Bradley C. Ferry

Tucson, AZ 480-***-**** **********@*****.***

Mechanical Engineer

Exceeding 10 years of experience commanding a solid background in mechanical design, layout and detailing of aerospace structures. Technically skilled at 3D CAD solid modeling and ASME Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Capacity for rapidly mastering new CAD platforms.

3D CAD MODELING EXPERTISE

SolidWorks 2015 Professional, AutoCad

DESIGN ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Designed access cover panels for F/A-18 E/F Auxiliary Systems. Redesigned panels

required reduced radar signatures and simplified Auxiliary Systems maintenance.

Prepared drawings for composite laminate skin covers.

Initiated a part change negotiation across departments to improve Systems Cover installation.

Designed improvements for MD-80/90 on wing structures and control surfaces.

Performed design tasks for customer directed improvements on aircraft structures

and mechanisms.

Designed supports for hydro-mechanical distribution lines on the rear of the C-17 wings.

Established system to segment assemblies of hydro-mechanical distribution lines

with team members to create uniformity between CAD files.

Bracket design for Hypersonic Test Vehicle (HTV) avionics.

Electronic packaging of Transmitter – Battery Box Assembly and

RF switches on isolator plate employing wiring diagram for “Rocket Cam”.

Verified clearance of full displacement for vibration/shock dampening/absorption.

Redesigned HTV Environmental Control Unit (controls temperature and humidity

in payload cone). Added spur outlet and adjustable damper/choke.

Items described above were designed to maximize manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).

Considerations include performance/function, reductions in production, operations, time and costs.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Sr. Advanced Mechanical Engineer July - August 2015

Honeywell International Inc. Phoenix, Arizona

Reduced inventory and improved OTTR: Reduced Repetitive MRB: Slow Moving Inventory Project with goal to Reduce inventory by Substitution, Conversion or Disassembly. Moved $400,536 worth of parts from Slow Moving Inventory to customer consumption by conversion or repurposed for engineering opportunities. Determined $246,317 worth of parts removed from Slow Moving Inventory as scrap. Scrapped parts resulted in reduced taxable capital, tracking expenses and liberated storage space.

Design Engineer 2013 – 2015

Textron Inc. New Orleans, Louisiana

Created supports and brackets for auxiliary systems in the Navy's high performance marine vehicle SSC (Ship to Shore Connector). Priorities were to minimize weight, cost and installation effort. Supports were customized for unique situations and used repetitively when prudent. Designed components and assemblies from customer specifications, sketches and Sr. engineer’s verbal instructions using SolidWorks models and drawings with strong understanding of product structure tree and EPDM system.

Engineering and Design Consultation 2012 – 2013

Performed engineering and design tasks utilizing SolidWorks for customers on short term assignments through online telecommuting.

Documentation Procedures Developer/Checker 2/2012 – 9/2012

STARA Technologies, Inc. Gilbert, Arizona

Produced 3D solid models for missing or revised hardware and detail parts. Created Product Drawing Packages. Tasked with a team to establish essential requirements and reference documents applicable to the preparation and revision of Level 3 – Engineering Production drawings and associated lists for the Department of Defense. Directed requirements toward ASME Y14.100 and MIL-DTL-31000 compliance. Improved Drawing Numbering System to focus on establishing and maintaining consistency of Product Drawing Packages, Statements of Work and Contract Data Requirements.

Engineering and Design Consultation 2009 – 2012

Performed engineering and design tasks utilizing SolidWorks for customers on short term assignments through online telecommuting.

Engineering Specialist 2008 – 2009

Orbital Sciences Corporation Chandler, Arizona

Hypersonic Test Vehicle, configuration A: (HTVA)

Avionic bracket design and Environmental Control Unit redesign.

Education and Professional Development

Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering

California State University, Long Beach, California

SolidWorks Phase One Training (Essentials)

Digital Dimensions, Inc., Phoenix, Arizona

AutoCad Training
