Diploma in Mechanical engineering.

Professional Experience

Roles:

Responsible for planning, coordination and execution of dredging project.

Providing support for repairs/maintenance, trouble shooting, over hauling, and break downs.

Preventive Maintenance of machineries installed on board cutter suction dredgers of various capacities.

Maintenance of dredging support crafts such as multi-cats, floating cranes and tug boats.

Planning and ordering spare parts.

Operation of submersible barge (submerging and refloating operations with various crafts on deck)

Supervision of dry dock & major repairs of dredgers and other crafts.

Scrutiny of dry dock repair bills.

Attended dredge pumps test in Jan. 2010 at IHC Merwede for newly built CSD Huta-9 with a total installed power of 16,000 KW.

Was associated in successful completion of following dredging and reclamation projects in the Eastern Region of KSA:-

i) Dredging and reclamation at Qatif (KSA)

ii) Dredging and reclamation at Anak (KSA)

iii) Dredging and reclamation at Durat Al-Khobar (KSA)

- Nineteen years of experience in major layup / dry-dock repairs, break downs/ running repairs, planning spare parts and settlement of repair bills for all types of Cutter suction and Hopper Dredgers owned by company.

- Responsible for new acquisition of Cutter Suction /Hopper dredgers, initiation of actions from tendering stage, supervision during construction until trial, delivery, registration and final sailing from Holland to India.

Responsibilities:

Organizing and supervising the total repairs and maintenance functions of vessel under the charge.

Monitoring the condition of equipment on board dredgers and other equipment for maximizing equipment availability and efficiency.

Planning, Budgeting, Execution and Supervision of all dry dock and layup / routine repairs and maintenance.

Ensuring compliance of Statutory and Classification requirements, all safety aspects and revalidation of certificates for the vessels under control.

Tendering for all repair works except annual rate schedule contract.

Processing of dry dock and routine repair bills and timely payment thereof, both at Head Office and projects.

Achieving organizational targets fixed from time to time, maintaining records and giving feedback.

Coordination with material division for timely procurement of spares parts &stores, sanctioning of indents, quantity and quality certification of materials supplied for vessel under the charge.

Audit replies related to Repairs and Maintenance.

Preparation of tender documents and floating global tenders for procurement of Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers and Cutter Suction Dredgers.

Deputation to IHC Holland as Engineer Cum Owner’s representative for Supervision of construction of Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers at IHC Holland, Approval of drawings, inspection, tests & trials of equipment ordered by IHC for installation on board the Dredgers. Witnessing pre-acceptance trials of all equipment such as propulsion machineries, dredging equipment and other auxiliaries. Ensuring compliance with contractual specifications, and arranging for sailing from Holland to India. One of the TSHD’s was fitted with Automatic reporting system and state of the art instrumentation. Shore pumping arrangement and self floating pipe line was also provided for pumping up to a distance of 2500 M.

(iii) Employer: - Indian navy (from Jan 1975 to Jan 1985)

Last Post held: - Chief E.R.A. (Ten years compulsory service)

Ten years of practical experience in the field of Mechanical & Marine engineering in Indian navy. Out of which five years and six months sailed on board naval ships of propulsion power up to 10800 KW and also performed duties as an instructor for a period of four years and six months for training Naval Engineers and other personnel.

In addition to Engine Control Room watch keeping, was responsible for:

Operations, maintenance, trouble shooting, overhauling, testing & tuning, performance trials and Planned Preventive Maintenance of shipboard machineries. A few of that are mentioned below:

i) Marine propulsion engines in-line and ‘V’ configuration up to 4000KW power

ii) Diesel generator sets up to 400 KVA

iii) Vapor Compression Distillation plant for producing fresh water from sea water.

iv) H. P. air compressors up to 250 bar discharge pressure.

v) Central air conditioning and refrigeration plants.

vi) Electro- hydraulic steering system

vii) Controllable pitch propulsion system (Kamewa and LIPS)

viii) Pneumatic control system of machineries

viii) Various types of pumps installed on board ships, namely centrifugal, self priming with air exhauster, Reciprocating, gear wheel and cartridge type hyd. pumps.
