Consulting Design Services: Various Clients, Various Locations 11/2010 – Present

Helped Hewlett Packard develop its Photo Center for Boots UK (a pharmacy chain in United Kingdom) by arranging store components in 3D, building 3D data and preparing presentation renderings of the Photo Center proposals.

Helped Optrix in promoting their sports camera case products by providing 3D renderings and product animations of their Optrix XD4 and Optrix XD5S sports camera case concepts.

Delivered sketch concepts and renderings for Evena Medical DoccuVein vasculature display device to JDID, a design consultancy in Sacramento, California.

Created 3D renderings and product animations for several JDID projects: Spruzza bicycle mounted cooling accessory, Spot Hug boat security system, MOMO race driver cooling system and EZ-Clone horticultural cloning system.

Helped refine styling and surfaces for the Hewlett Packard Olympia professional printer. Senior Designer / Concept Artist: GrapeCity, Sendai, Japan 09/2013 – 09/2015

Built high quality 3D surface models, generated 2D drawings and created Photoshop renderings of a school interior setting and personal items used by animation characters in upcoming English education videos targeting toddlers. All 3D data was constructed by use of Rhino 3D, Softimage and ZBrush.

Developed concepts of interiors, furniture and personal items for several settings within GrapeSeed Unit 15 videos.

Worked as senior designer on a cross functional team to produce word tracking animations for Grapeseed DVD's. My responsibilities included cutting audio, editing images, video clips and text assets to be used in making compositions for final videos.

Sketched numerous 2D drawings and high quality renderings for ancillary product concepts which utilized GrapeSeed brand and characters as inspiration.

Senior Industrial Designer: Tanita Corporation, Tokyo, Japan 12/2005 - 09/2010

Became key designer for many body measurement products which included: BC-566, BC-581 and M-041 body composition monitors, HD-380, HD-381, HD-382 and HD-383 glass scales, UM-040, TF-204, TF-205 and TF-219 body fat monitors, WB-260 Medical Weight Scale, HD-386 Mini Scale, KD-191 Kitchen Scale, TT-533 Kitchen Thermometer, PD-643 watch style pedometer, HC-211 alcohol checker and KP-601 jewelry scale.

Tanita UK division asked me to coordinate a project between a local UK design company (Wright Design) and other Tanita departments in Japan and China. Thru this effort a series of scales - BC-575, HD-358 and UM-076 – were developed for the European market.

Worked together with various product departments to create project specifications, project time tables, delivery dates, market research reports, internal progress reports and specification sheets in Japanese. Industrial Designer: Nova Design, Taipei, Taiwan/Shanghai, China 06/2005 - 11/2005

Succeeded in leading a failing design team in the Shanghai office to deliver acceptable office telephone designs for a Taiwanese client after 3 previously failed attempts.

Designed award winning products whilst at Nova design (DHC-3000 LCD PC, DHC-2000 LCD PC, DHC-1000 LCD PC).

Provided concepts by sketch and Photoshop rendering for products such as refrigerators (for Midea Corporation), coffee pots and I-pod accessories.

Industrial Designer: Panasonic AVC Networks, San Diego, California, USA 01/2001 - 08/2004

Helped develop TV product concepts for North America, Central America and South America markets. Products designed were predominantly Large Screen CRT projection, DLP projection and LCD projection TV’s.

Coordinated projects with other departments at Panasonic, parts vendors, mockup makers and brand research specialists. Responsibilities coinciding with this duty included: delivering specifications to model makers, fixing reasonable delivery dates and critiquing samples from parts vendors according to their appearance and cost effectiveness.

Other duties included: writing up specification sheets, color matching, texture matching, creating and checking packaging artwork, making UI graphics for TV screens, examining factory produced parts and paint samples.
