Thirty years of experience in research, development and standardization of Virtualized Networks, Overlay Networks, Cloud Services Architectures, DOCSIS over EPON, Carrier Ethernet, Wireless, IP Multimedia Systems (IMS), IP/MPLS, ATM/SONET, EMS/NMS, and optical systems and services, by leading various teams as a researcher, systems engineer, architect, developer, program and development director, marketing director, executive, and entrepreneur in well-known service providers, equipment vendors and start-up companies. Authored five books which are used as college text books and translated to other languages, two Open Cloud Connect (OCC) standards specifications related to Cloud Services Architectures, a video tutorial, numerous articles in computer networking and signal processing. Received various awards, have one patent and five pending patent applications. Member of Open Cloud Connect Board, represent Comcast in MEF and OCC.

EXPERIENCE

March 2010-Present Distinguished Engineer, Comcast. Development of architectures and requirements of Virtualized and Cloud-based Commercial Services, and their implementations.

Development of architectures and requirements of DOCSIS over EPON (DPoE), and its implementation and testing.

Development of architectures and requirements of CE2.0 compliant Metro Ethernet Services for on-net and off-net, and their implementations and testing.

Research and development of Packet Network Congestion Control techniques.

Development of architecture and requirements of Self-Managed Networks.

Representing Comcast in MEF, OCC, IEEE and IETF.

Sept. 2009-March 2010 July CEO of Intergenix, Saddle Brook, NJ. Formed Intergenix as a startup company, led development of Remote Application Repair Software

Products, and sold the company.

June 2009-Sept. 2009 Network/Systems Engineering Consultant, Telcordia Technologies, Piscataway, NJ. Defined end-to-end Carrier Ethernet services architecture to support VoIP and data applications, implementation and deployment guidelines, and test cases for wireless backhaul of a well-known wireless service provider. The architecture included IP addressing scheme, OSPF routing and route redundancy for 2000 locations consisting of base stations, radio controllers, and IP/MPLS routers.

September 2006-May 2009 Network Consultant (Sr. Director Level), ADVA Optical Networking, Mahwah, NJ. Represented ADVA in MEF and ITU, developed MIB for Carrier Ethernet Service OAM to support development of Draft MEF 7.1, ITU-T Y.1731 and IEEE 802.1ag, and contributed to development of MEF 23 (CoS IA), MEF UNI 10.1, and MEF 22 (MBH IA). Advised CableLabs OAM Focus Team to resolve Cable Modem OAM issues. Contributed to architectures of Carrier Ethernet Access networks of well-known companies such as Sprint, TWC and Cox Communications. Guided features development of ADVA’s Ethernet products and led interoperability tests with Cisco, ALU, and Nortel equipment.

September 2005-July 2006 Sr. Manager and Architect, Intel Multiservice Platform Lab., Parsippany, NJ. Led IMS Applied Research Group with a proof of concept lab with burn rate of 1.5 million dollars per year. Defined systems and network management architecture for ATCA and RMS based IMS infrastructure for wireline and wireless (GSM and WiMAx), VoIP, IVR, video surveillance and IP TV, integrated related hardware and software, and conducted performance tests for SIP, applications, and IMS systems. Results of this work were used by well-known companies in US and Europe.

March 2005-September 2005 Member of Technical Staff, Advanced Planning Strategy, Verizon Wireless, Bedminster, NJ. Defined IMS wireless architecture to support VoIP and data applications, and represented the company in 3GPP2 wireless standards (CDMA-2000) in all areas.

August 2000-November 2004 Software Program Director, Bandwidth Engineering Director,Technical Marketing Director, Axiowave Networks, Marlborough, MA.

Adjunct Professor of ECE of Worchester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA. Led IP/MPLS Router/GMPLS Optical Cross Connect and EMS development in this startup company and taught graduate courses in Wireless Networks. Represented the company in IETF and NANOG.

Led BGP/OSPF/IS-IS/MPLS protocol architecture and requirements definition and software development, interoperability testing with Cisco and Juniper routers, and switching algorithms development.

Led MEMS based optical cross connect architecture and requirements definition, and GMPLS routing development.

Identified marketing strategy, developed application notes and responded RFPs.

August 1997-July 2000 Sr. Manager of Systems Engineering, Fujitsu Network Communications (FNC), Pearl River, NY. Led Systems Engineering/Architecture Group in building SONET/ATM/IP access systems and EMS/NMS, in defining architecture, requirements and system test plans, and development of traffic management algorithms including CAC. Represented the organization in IETF, ATM Forum, XDSL and FSAN standards. Led funded research at Polytechnic Institute of New York University and NJIT, and overall Fujitsu IP architecture vision study.

Led ATM Switch fabric, CMIP and SNMP interfaces architecture, requirements definition and design. Represented Lucent in ATM Forum

and ITU. Planned and designed private packet network and email

services that were deployed overall US. Conducted research in

synchronization, video transport, and network optimization. Taught

courses in computer networking and computer architectures.
