VP of operations for a commercial door and hardware company operating in metropolitan Phoenix and the state of Arizona. Qualifying party for licensing and acquired three licenses through the Arizona Registrar of Contractors including both residential and commercial general contracting. By 2010, directed 14 full-time employees. Worked with prominent general contractors in the state. Time was divided between office and field responsibilities, including scheduling, oversight of field crews, coordination with vendors/suppliers, quality control, and client relations. Directed project management team in estimation, ordering, and coordination with field crews.
COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT, SUFT CONSTRUCTION
February 2004 – April 2006
Retained by Suft to complete a single, specific project consisting of 18 separate medical buildings with a budget of $22 million. Oversight included all associated utilities and site work. Daily scheduling of subcontractor crews, appropriate inspections, safety meetings and reports, material procurement including long lead time items, daily reports/project logs, and client relations.
COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT, JOKAKE CONSTRUCTION
April 2000 – February 2004
Commercial construction superintendent in metropolitan Phoenix. Hired to work in newly conceived “shell” division focused solely on ground-up projects. Sole on-site representative for company. Full oversight of entire project from survey/staking, underground utilities, and grading through interior finishes and C of O. Commercial structures included masonry, wood framing, and tilt-wall.
KEY PROJECTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Successful completion of Navajo Cultural Center and Hampton Inn in remote Kayenta, Arizona. Challenges included: lack of local craftsmen, primitive conditions, logistical challenges, and extreme weather conditions. Required to conform to traditional Navajo building practices for several structures. Mandated integration and utilization of local, unskilled workforce.
On-time and in-budget completion of award-winning architectural design for Hermann, Goldstein, and Forsythe law offices in Phoenix, Arizona. Challenges included: solid rock site and innovative radiused building design.
Oversaw simultaneous construction of 18 separate medical buildings on the same sight. Challenges included: maintaining relations with 20+ tenants, coordinating daily special and city inspections for the entire site, managing subcontractor crews totaling more than 200 men. Successfully passed OSHA site inspection with no citations.
