Stacy Lee Germano

Objective

A human resources role in a forward thinking organization.

Summary

Well rounded and seasoned bilingual HR professional with experience in oil and gas, service industries, construction and manufacturing.

Professional Accomplishments

Benefits and compensation

Through contract negotiations, plan change and carrier changes I have successfully cut benefits costs. An initial benefits audit at Michael Angelo’s saved us over $30,000 in year one and plan and carrier changes at KWI have decreased our costs per person by over 17%.

Implemented dependent audits, automatic carrier feeds and active open enrollments multiple times in order to prevent eligibility issues and overpayment for coverage.

Have rolled out “unpopular” plans – including flexible spending accounts (FSAs), consumer directed health plans (CDHPs) and accountability care organizations (ACOs) and have been successful in beating enrollment goals. My first FSA rollout netted us 15% enrolled. At KWI the first year rollout of the CDHP netted 3% enrollments (goal was 2%).

Led implementation of a first time compensation grading plan and beat deadline by weeks. Successfully slotted all employees into grades and completed job capsules for all roles.

Training

I have successfully implemented new hire orientations (often in a vacuum) numerous times and like to incorporate fun learning and interactive activities – big on learning about the company and big on arming them with benefits consumer information. I have also focused on other on-boarding needs (new employee buddy, new hire FAQ’s and more) to ensure a higher retention rate. At Michael Angelo’s we felt that the changes in on-boarding and training was a factor in the lowering of the turnover rate from 127% to 91% in just the first 8 months.

I have evaluated existing training, revamped training and designed training in a vacuum in both English and Spanish in topics such as employment law, FMLA, harassment, HIPAA, ADA and more. At Michael Angelo’s I succeeded in delivering training in two languages to over 50 supervisors in more than 5 topics in two months. At Eagle’s Trace I trained 250 new hires (start-up) in all core courses required by Erickson in 6 months, beating all corporate deadlines.

HRIS/Systems

Have been an integral part of three payroll or systems conversions (from ADP’s HRB to Ceridian, from ADP to Paychex and from Oracle to Benefit Solver). Due to this, and due to a love of technology, I have become the system go-to and the official custom report writer more than once for my HR teams.

99% of 4,500 employees at Exterran in our 2012 active open enrollment successfully used the Benefit Solver platform to log on and elect their benefits by our deadline. This was due to a comprehensive open enrollment campaign and road show. Estimated savings for the rollout was $10 million for 2013.

At KWI I led the effort to implement their Work Force Now (WFN) recruiting, benefits and performance modules. In addition, I rolled out employee and manager self-service this February with an initial registration of over 1/3 of our employees (most of whom are production employees).

At Valerus I was project lead on an initiative to migrate all of our employee paper files to eDocs, an online system. In less than 1 year we migrated over 3,000 files to eDocs which then allowed us to access documents easier and from wherever we might be.

Recruitment

Have been successful more than once in finding creative methods to source difficult candidates. Examples are partnering with trade schools for finding difficult to source 6G pipe welders or creating a pipeline of candidates to be able to quickly source for openings – job fairs, on campus or on site candidate visitor nights and creative sourcing through current employees. At Eagle’s Trace I rolled out one such program which allowed us to keep in close contact with candidates for whom we would have a need in the future and we cut our time to hire down from over 60 days to less than 25 days in the 6 months after implementing that program. When I left our retention rate was 90%.

At Valerus I was part of a small team that recruited, hired and on-0boarded over 450 hires in 2010.

Others

Rolled out the first AAP plan (Valerus), company-wide flu shot programs and 4 wellness pilot programs (Exterran), LOA administration programs (Michael Angelo’s, Valerus, Exterran, KWI) and have been very successful in garnering trust and respect from employees.

Additional Skills and Abilities

Customer service focused – employees, terminated employees, co-workers, benefits vendors – I treat them all as my customers and the fact that I am solution oriented helps me to be successful in people relations. I do what I say what I will do and follow up.

Computer savvy- I am often a go to person in my department. I seek technological ways to become more efficient. When it comes to programs I am well versed in Excel (vlookups, if then statements and creating forms with drop downs and other types of fields, charts, etc.), Word, PowerPoint and Publisher as well as experienced with ADP products, Ceridian and Paychex. I enjoy the process of writing and creating reports and am data driven.

Bilingual – I speak, read and write Spanish although I am not fluent. I can deliver training to employees or benefits information as well in Spanish as in English. I continue to learn and enjoy the challenge of learning another language.
