The Ziggy Handlink(Android)

• Designed layout on graph paper, using screenshots from a popular science fiction television series

• Created UI comprised of oddly shaped buttons by extending ImageView and overriding OnDraw method, creating Paths using Point arrays stored in resources

• Used Soundpool to add authentic sound effects from series(with sound files created in Audacity)

• Implemented use of accelerometer to detect and react when user strikes side of device

• Added algorithm which blinks “lights” on UI in random patterns, which runs in separate thread

• Two separate "Results" screens, which display data selected randomly from a number of String Arrays stored in resources

• Layout designed to automatically scale and maintain a consistent appearance on any size screen/pixel density; extended TextView to create custom Views that automatically size text and implemented nested LinearLayouts to create a grid to size and place these Views

• This application is currently available on Google Play Store, at The Ziggy Handlink

TMDHelper(Android)

• While working as a sales rep, identified a need for an app to assist with ordering proper product quantities for display building, and decided to create it

• First designed the individual layouts and flow of activities on paper

• Developed the app in the same manner that a user would experience it by thoroughly building and

debugging each activity, starting at the splash screen, before moving on to next activity that would be called

• For each app, first designed the XML layout, then added the underlying Java logic to make it fully functional

• This app utilizes(among other things) intents, async tasks, and SQLite databases.

Networked Chess Project(Java)

• Using Model View Controller(MVC) strategy, created networked chess game that utilized existing “Gamenet” architecture

For View, wrote code to lay out chessboard and place chesspiece gifs, designing first as JFrame, then reworking as JPanel placed in BorderLayout

Wrote Controller as simple MouseAdapter that passed coordinates of clicks to Model

Model, which encompassed all classes that contained game logic, was built out by adding code for one rule at a time, debugging before proceeding

Wrote methods to track piece location, allow capture of pieces, check if moves are legal, checkmate conditions, and game status Belleville Area District Library
