Quality Engineer

As quality engineer at Akebono I work directly with our customer quality contacts for quality concerns, PPAP submission, and engineering change requests. My daily duties include fulfilling customer special orders, tracking and inputting line qualification data, overseeing line qualifications, working with document control to ensure documentation is up to date, monitoring customer portals and dealing with internal and external quality concerns. Other duties include control plan and PFMEA audits and review. I am also the lead for the installation of Prolink data collection software.

2012 to 2013 Summit Polymers, Elizabethtown, KY

Production Manager

As production manager at Summit Polymers, I am responsible for the assembly and paint departments. I managed 50 direct reports and 3 supervisors over three shifts. I was responsible for the safety of employees, the quality of finished product and the up keep of equipment through training and audits. I was directly involved in interviewing and hiring of new employees for the assembly and paint departments. Other responsibilities include scheduling production based upon customer demand, scheduling over time as needed, ensuring all assembly cells are properly staffed, meeting and exceeding department goals and performance metrics. Summit runs a lean manufacturing system that is based on the Toyota production system. As production manager, I was responsible for training of all lean manufacturing tools and maintaining lean manufacturing with in my department. I was also directly involved in all aspects of cycle counts and inventory control.

2011 – 2012 Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, Bowling Green, Ky

Production Supervisor

As a production supervisor at Bendix Brake, I supervised shift operations for the assembly department. I maintained work flow by monitoring process steps. Other duties include cycle counts, quarterly inventory, production planning, staffing decisions, and overtime scheduling. I was also responsible for or directly involved with coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions and leading teams.

Night Shift Production Superintendent

The night shift production superintendent role at Akebono Brake is the plant managers representative on the night shift. I was responsible for roughly 400 employees and 16 team leaders. The night shift production superintendant supervised plant operations, held nightly meetings with supervisors, prepared notes for department managers, checked shipments and was first line contact for quality issues, equipment issues and any disciplinary actions, including terminations. I have 17 years of lean manufacturing experience with Akebono. 4 years of direct work in a process improvement department. While in the process improvement department, I was lead on a cycle time reduction project that reduced man power and cycle times on a production line allowing the line to produce the same amount of product in the same amount of time with two less operators. Over 17 experience with kanban, kaizen, 5S, just in time, and Toyota production systems.

Radio Operator-Maintainer/Sergeant

I spent just under 6 years in the United States Army. My first two years were spent at Fort Knox working in First Armor training brigade communication shop. I performed command inspections, minor repairs to radios and inventory control. We were responsible to issue all equipment to the battalions. I then spent a year in Turkey were I was in charge of maintenance on all radio equipment. I also held a top secret clearance with special background for the work I did with communication security. My last two and half years were at Fort Irwin. There I worked in a brigade communication shop and a company line shop. In both cases I was in charge of all equipment from the brigade level down to the company level.
