Amsted Rail, Hammond, IN. 2014 - Present

A division of Amsted Industries, industry leaders and largest freight car component manufacturer in the world. The Amsted Rail plant in Hammond is a multi-shift, union, OEM supplier of hot wound suspension springs for the freight car industry. Amsted Rail is an ISO 9001 certified facility with annual sales of over $66 million annually.

Engineering Manager

Responsible for management and supervision of the Engineering department with 5 direct reports, supporting Manufacturing, Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety and Maintenance. Responsible for new spring design and cost estimating to support Sales, new product development as well as conducting line trials. Also responsible for the management of all process improvements and capital, safety & environmental projects.

Supported manufacturing plant through record year, producing over 53 million pounds of freight car springs in 2015.

Successfully implemented $500,000 robotic automation project, reducing labor costs by $360,000 annually and increasing production by 20%.

Currently completing $1.7MM process line improvements which include installation of four large pieces of equipment and two robotic loading operations, all achieved without production downtime.

Leading implementation of a new MES system on our highest volume line which will be the model for three other lines.

Engineering Manager

Responsible for management and supervision of the Engineering & Maintenance departments with 5 direct and 5 indirect reports, supporting Manufacturing, Quality, Environmental and R&D.
