4/9/07 to 9/18/15 BAE Systems, Nashua, NH

HPMBL/SALT Programs

S&TS (Survivability & Targeting Solutions), leading the Electrical Engineering Team for a 15 month study program (Technology Insertion) to determine product upgrades, address part obsolesce, circuit redesign, system production testing and recommended options list for the customer.

Responsible for obsolescence re-designing of an Energy Detector, 6 month effort. Prototype board build/test, successfully completed ahead of schedule.

New Lightweight IRCM Proposal Design (Analog and digital), adding a transmitter capability to current fielded systems.

Electrical Lead supporting SALT and HPMBL engineering programs.

Insource Power Supply Qualification Program Lead CMWS

Program Engineering Lead for the classified Environmental Qualification, of the Insource Power Supplies for the CMWS program. Successfully completed all activities (Temp, altitude, vibration, EMI) within estimated time. Qualification included report generation for the 4 phases of qualification testing with customer submittals.

Bridge Program, CCA Respin Effort (Pointer Tracker Lead)

Reviewing current board designs for the Pointer Tracker, incorporating any updates and DMS issues found during the Technical Development phase. On time with re-design, reviews and prototype board builds. Redesigned the power supply board for issues found during the next program phase. Prototype build and test with no design issues identified. Designed for manufacturing test/production with internal board self-testing.

UK Mantis Program, Hardware Manager

S&TS (Survivability & Targeting Solutions), Advanced Capture Solutions, Hardware Engineering Lead for the development of a new technology insertion, countermeasure system. The existing program currently uses lamps as a means for platform protection, the new proposed system replaces these lamps with laser diodes. A proposal (Feasibility Study) has been delivered to the potential customer. The hardware team consists of Mechanical, Optical, Electrical, Systems, Test and Life cycle management. As well as Hardware Lead, my responsibilities on the program include Electrical lead providing an overall electrical architecture.

US Mantis Technology Insertion Program, Proposal Manager

S&TS (Survivability & Targeting Solutions), Advanced Capture Solutions, Leading the Program development of a new countermeasure system. This is a technology insertion program, upgrading an existing 15 year old product (Matador). Managing the following airborne platform components: Operators console, Control Unit, Power supply, EMI Filter and Transmitter assembly. Architect for the system electronics, recommended removal of a system chassis and absorbing the function into another system component, saving testing time/schedule/cost (~2m savings).

Advanced Capabilities Program, Proposal Manager

S&TS (Survivability & Targeting Solutions), Advanced Capture Solutions, Leading the Proposal effort for a new Communication device to be located on an airborne/ground platform. Electronics consist of, various custom boards to interface with optical devices mounted on a carbon fiber bench, beam director (Az/El), micro-processor/FPGA, servo control, Fast Steering Mirror and miscellaneous electronics. Architect for the system electronics baseline. Follow-on Program Awarded, $30 million.

CSU (Communication Synchronization Unit) Program Engineering Manager, Space Program

Program Engineering Manager, Cost Account Manager, Hardware Lead and production test lead. Program deliverables, Electronics Chassis, Customer chassis and 4 Flight Units. Accountable for schedule and cost accounts. System approach for board design changes, upgrade of components, customer presentations, design reviews (internal & external) and qualification testing.

Signal Integrity investigation, problem solving, novel design approach, and cost savings.

Solving A/D timing issues, impedance mismatch driving the Optical Bus Interface, customer support and bandpass filter design. Hardware Lead for PWB redesign effort, including BOM management and Engineering Design reviews.

Received the Eagle award, by a government customer for outstanding performance.

ARIES SMU (Switched Matrix Unit), Space Program

Assigned as Engineering Lead to troubleshoot and bring to closure a design issue found during ATP of the first Flight deliverable unit. Schedule pressure made this a top priority and I was selected to resolve the issue as well as providing a trusted, ‘company to customer’ interface.

I determined the design issue, chaired the Failure Review Board with the customer, made various presentations, successfully implemented a design change and closed the action within six weeks. Saving the Program over 1 million dollars.
