Project Manager

Project Manager reporting to the Vice President of Global Logistics/Fulfillment. Developed and instituted a multilingual 5S program. Facilitated plant wide training, and instituted changes in the facility Operational Excellence Program. Project manager responsible for tracking and driving a $3 million facility expense reduction, including fleet management costs, building and grounds expense costs and operational improvements and efficiencies.

• Developed and sponsored an RFP for 3pL operations at facility in England.

• Reduced fleet management costs by 66% after just 3 months.

• Directed a project to downsize or replace current fleet with machines that were more operationally efficient and better suited for the distribution center.

Operations Manager (2006-2014)

Managed a staff of 8 salaried managers and 110 hourly staff to support this $150 million high volume printing and distribution facility. Produced and distributed product for all three Patterson Company Business units. Developed a management and hourly staff that embraced change management. Communicated cost, quality and safety goals to the staff. Monitored the daily operation of both production and distribution areas. Guide the facility staff in developing action plans to remedy operational deficiencies in all areas. Ensured compliance with Federal, State and Local Law. Supported Corporate goals for continuous improvement and Total Quality Management.

• Average yearly 50 basis point improvement in Gross Margin despite yearly average of 6% decline in sales.

• Converted production methods from litho to digital printing.

• Reduced sales declining production area footprint and increased distribution footprint to allow housing and distribution of high end digital medical equipment.

• Staff developed to insure 98 % same day service and 99.98% accuracy level despite using 5 different shipping systems.

New Facility Project Manager, Champaign Il (2004-2006) Selected by local and Corporate staff to be the Project Manager for this $16 million, 196,000 square foot facility. Worked with architect and construction company, to set schedules, timelines, budgets and facility requirements. Ensure all licenses, and permits were granted. Maintained tight control of dollars by evaluation and sign off of change orders. Prepare in house staff for the move. Develop teams to determine requirement, new processes and procedures of new facility. Facilitate move plans, communication with customers, and Corporate staff. Work with facilities to ensure no business interruption or productivity/quality/customer service issues begin while in move phase. Develop new Safety plans and communicate with employee group.

• Worked with vendors both Union and non-Union to develop a cohesive team to ensure key project milestones were met

• Completed project with only 1% increase in bid price due to change orders. Worked diligently to find solutions.

• Completed move of all sales, purchasing, and IT areas between Friday evening - Sunday evening to ensure no business interruptions and seamless change to our customers.

• Consistently achieved performance bonus for safety, revenue and profit. Group Manager - Stock production, Champaign, IL (1996-2004) Responsible for all stock product distribution as well as introduction of long run web equipment, flexo printing and file folder converting presses. Was responsible for the purchase of equipment, development of staff, development in procedures and processes of new product lines. Hired and trained staff (including managerial staff) on the new product line as well as developed production, accuracy, quality metrics. Developed preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment capacity was met as well as ROI achieved.
