Internship with Micromix

I am running a trial on the NTU campus on behalf of Micromix. This is looking at the effect of micronutrients combined with fungicides as a foliar spray on a crop of barley and red cabbage. This has given me an insight into how trials are run and the growing stages and pathogens of crops. The results from this will be the basis of my dissertation in my final year at NTU.

May 2014-present.

Seasonal gardener for Went to Mow.

Currently I am doing general garden and grounds maintenance for Went to Mow in Beeston and the Nottingham area. Working to tight time lines and achieving as much as possible for the clients within the time allowed is key to this role to gain customer satisfaction and showing value for money.

November 2010 – February 2014.

Technical Advisor, store product mapper, space range and merchandising team leader.

While working for Tesco I started gaining more interest in the food supply chain and I was able to see the final stages of its journey to the customer. The longest period of my employment with them was with the stock control team, monitoring the store’s stock with in house software and data administration devices. With these monitoring devices I was able to manipulate the flow of stock to the store to try and maintain the balance of availability while minimising wastage.

June 2008- May 2009.

Sales Executive and Motability specialist for Evans Halshaw, Nissan at Mansfield.

I was moved to the Nissan part of the dealership to be the sole sales executive to provide experience in trying to introduce new business and achieve profit targets. To do this I started introducing car broker business as a steady volume business and started doing e-commerce advertising as well as B2B sales.

In this role I was covering all aspects of the business including sales, ordering, order tracking and finance administration. As I was the sole executive I was also acting as Sales Manager, Business Manager, and administrator within the franchise.

August 2007 – May 2009

Sales Executive and Motability specialist for Evans Halshaw Citroen at Mansfield.

I was brought into Mansfield Citroen as an experienced sales executive within this franchise to try and increase business, profits and product knowledge. Working with the sales and business manager I managed to turn the dealership round to be profitable through our use of personal service, contacting existing customers, using our own data base of customers and maximising the opportunities we were given. Near the end of this role I was implemented in training three new executives to take over my role as I was moved to a more senior role in Nissan, Mansfield.

August 2005 – August 2007

Sales Executive and Motability specialist for Bristol Street Motors Citroen at Derby.

With Bristol Street Motor my main objective was to make myself and the dealership as much money as possible. I did this by building a client data base and treating customers as individuals. I was very successful in this role through hard work and determination, which is why I was offered the position with my next employers at Citroen Mansfield.

February 2002 – August 2005

Lending sales associate for Egg Banking plc at Derby.

As a lending associate with Egg Banking, my main objective was selling personal loans and insurance related products over the phone. I was turning over on average £1.5 million a month in money lent with an insurance penetration on average of 60%, surpassing targets on a month-by-month basis. I enjoyed my time with Egg, but I missed meeting customers face to face so when I was offered a position with Citroen Derby I took the opportunity.

June 2000 – July 2001.

Trainee Stockbroker for Popes Stockbrokers at Stoke on Trent.

I was taken on at Popes at the height of the Tech Boom in 2000 when stock prices were rocketing. My main duties were to take trade orders from customers for shares and trade these through the market makers in London. This was a very fast paced industry at the time and thoroughly enjoyable for me, but it came to an end when the tech bubble burst and stocks crashed. I was made redundant from Popes along with several others as I was one of the last people to join the company.

September 1997 – June 2000

Sales Associate and Team Leader for HSBC Autodirect Insurance at Stoke on Trent.

Working for HSBC was my first full time job and provided me with my initial training in insurance products and sales techniques.

My main role was to take accurate details over the phone from customers so I could provide them with an insurance quote and try and sell the policy and extras to them.

During the course of my employment with them I took on further responsibilities of training new staff and also became a team leader running a team of eight sales associates.
