SUMMARY

• Strong understanding of concepts including digital signal processing, random signal theory, communication theory, digital communications and various algorithm development and simulation tools like MATLAB, Microsoft Visual Studio, Code Composer Studio and Metro Werks Code Warrior some of which are can be used to integrate hardware systems. I am also proficient in, C, C++ and Python.

EXPERIENCE

• Image processing engineer intern, ScienceTomorrow LLC, KY Dec 2015 – Mar 2016

- Prototype testing and development activities included testing fabricated wafers using probe-station, characterizing prototype devices and MATLAB code development for image data generation; Mechanical design of holder for product prototype was modeled using FreeCAD and SolidWorks and got it machined using machine drawings.

- A selected part of processed wafer with no scribe lines was got sawed to individual dies and wire bonding was carried out at an offsite location. Documented wafer sawing plan to achieve minimal damage/wastage of the devices.

• Electrical engineeer intern, NeoLight Medical, AZ Jun 2015 - Nov 2015

Product development responsibilities included Arduino programming, circuit design and documentation of product updates; Pulse width modulation in Arduino is used to modulate voltage input for LED arrays

PROJECTS

• Real time signal processing projects using C and assembly

- Low pass FIR filtering of an audio input signal on DSP56858EVM kit which includes interfacing computer microphone with the DSP chip [a real time audio signal processing project]; Digital Signal Processing

- Image transformations such as histogram equalization, thresholding and gray-scale quantization techniques were implemented on DSP56858 [a real time image processing project]; DSP algorithms

- Traffic signal application using timers, interrupts, on-chip LEDs and serial communication interface (SCI) on DSP56858

- Pitch estimation of a speech segment on TMS320C5510 chip using Fast Fourier transform

- Digital synthesizer was designed and musical notes were generated in TMS320C5510 chip [an audio processing project]

• Audio quality evaluation in MATLAB: Audio files are analyzed frame by frame to find Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR)

• Adaptive noise cancellation in MATLAB: A frequency domain adaptive filter is designed to dynamically remove background noise using two microphones [an audio signal processing project] ; Noise cancellation algorithms

• Hard and Soft Decision Decoding in MATLAB: Monte Carlo simulations for decoding of binary antipodal Hamming codes over Additive White Gaussian Noise were developed [a digital communications system model]

• 32-PSK and 32-QAM Modems were simulated and behavior of error probability versus SNR was studied in MATLAB

• Stitching images by object detection using Open CV in C++: Two images are combined using SURF feature detector, matching descriptors using FLANN matcher [computer vision application]

• Image enhancement and compression using MATLAB and OpenCV in C++: Applications of FIR filters to smoothen and sharpen images; Image compression performed using Fourier/cosine transforms [an image processing project]
