Developed and managed project plans including work breakdown structures, vendor relationships, task responsibilities, and risk assessments needed to complete the projects one time and under budget. Results: Completed over 200 projects in the last 12 years that met or exceeded expectations of the project goals. These projects included system implementations, system upgrades, system migrations, software development, Business Impact Analysis (BIA), and data backup and restore/Disaster Recovery plans. The accounts included State and Local Governments (SLG), manufacturing, and healthcare industries.
Assigned as District Manager with the goals of improving the profitability of the organization and improve the teamwork between hardware support, software support, and marketing support. Result: After reviewing the operational performance of the then current structure I reorganized the structure by placing all service support (hardware and software) under one manager, promoted the second support manager to the position of operations manager to represent me when my schedule had me elsewhere, and scheduled formal meetings with marketing support to be aware of what was sold and what was in the “pipeline”. These changes resulted in above profit goal performance, higher customer satisfaction, overall improved performance of the support team.
Customer
Service
Implemented a Staging Center to meet the customers’ need for involvement in the upgrade of their manufacturing systems and UAT. Result: The commitment to open this staging center won the business for us and provided the capability to demonstrate the realities of remote system management without increasing the cost of the project. This allowed us to prove to the client that remote system management was the best solution and opened the doors for discussion about virtualization.
Training & Development
Trained all Central Region Field Services Managers in Project Management Concepts. Result: Increased the number of deadlines met by Central Region Managers and provided more available face time for the customers’ with company management.
Organizing
Assessed the Regional Support organization to understand why we had a large number of problems and poor support of new networked products. Result: Restructured the 13 State Region Support Group to provide the network and system training and support of new products to the District Service teams. Also convinced the Region Director to have the District Support groups report to the Region Support Manager in a matrix configuration with the responsibility for problems on current and mature products. This structure reduced the Region critical escalations from 187 to 3 while greatly increasing customer satisfaction with new and mature product support.
