Experience:
2009 2012
Simmco Contracting Corporation Brownsville, Tennessee
Construction Services / Piping Design Engineer
Utilizing AutoCAD and ACORN PIPE software to develop pipe spool drawings for shop and field prefabrication of utility and process water cooling systems for new and modified steel plants. Acquire material take-off from schematic diagrams and designs. Redesign plant layout in the field at customer s request.
Prefab pipe sections resulting in at least a 70% time saving on installation.
Prefab pipe supports resulting in a 60% time saving on installation.
1999 2009
Systems Contracting Corporation El Dorado, Arkansas
Construction Services / Piping Design Engineer
Utilizing AutoCAD 2D and CADworks 3D to develop pipe spool drawings for shop and field fabrication of utility and process cooling water systems for new and modified steel plants. Acquire material take-off from schematic diagrams and designs. Redesign plant layout in the field at customer s request.
Prefab pipe sections resulting in at least a 70% time saving on installation.
Prefab pipe supports resulting in a 60% time saving on installation.
On site CAD station setup for immediate design modification of plant layout due to interference s encountered during installation.
1992 1998
DATEL ENGINEERING COMPANY Dayton, Ohio
(A Division of ICON Corporation, Construction Contractors and Erectors)
Mechanical/Structural Designer
Utilizing AutoCAD to design plant utility/process piping. Modified process machinery layout at customer s request. Work closely with structural, mechanical and electrical departments as field engineer to modify layout and eliminate all interference s on installation.
Design modifications resulting in at least 25% increase in material savings and handling capability in the steel production process.
Designed layouts of piping and supports, for cooling water systems, hydraulics, compressed air, natural gas, and nitrogen gas lines in new steel plants for ease and efficiency of installation.
Layout of HVAC ductwork for new steel plants and design modifications for existing plants.
1982 - 1992
SYSTECH ENVIRONMENTAL CORPORATION Xena, Ohio
(A subsidiary of La Farge Corporation, Ruston, Virginia)
Senior Designer/Construction Liaison
Assigned to corporate engineering to develop and improve the technology in co-processing of waste derived fuels in cement kilns. Developed prototype equipment to be manufactured. Designed material handled conveyor and storage facility with containment layout at cement manufacturing plant contact role, while managing a crew of mechanics, welders, millwrights and electricians.
Designed the piping and equipment layout for three facilities. Supervised the installation onto an existing system, which resulted in a 70% production increase.
Studied and evaluated the time and efficiency of material handling/processing operations and implemented a reassignment of operators, reducing the number needed by two-thirds and resulting in more efficient utilization of labor.
Supervised the on-site modification and installation of a drum cleaning auger and material flow system resulting in a production increase of over 60%.
Coordinated the responsibilities of four on-site contractors on a two million-dollar project resulting in compliance with project drawings, specifications and timeliness of scheduled tasks.
1977 1982
KEEBLER COMPANY Denver, CO
Mechanical Design Engineer
Provided mechanical, electrical and electromechanical drawings, work scheduling, and design layout of food processing machinery. Supervised fabrication and installation of bulk materials handling equipment, including process piping layout, modification of new and old equipment. Layout and design of power driven conveyors plate, wire and cloth for various materials, shapes and sizes also designed and supervised dry & liquid materials handling equipment, structural supports and platforms. Ordered fabrication material and kept material inventory for all department projects.
1974 1977
THE ORTLOFF CORPORATION Midland, TX
