Controller, Construct Solutions, Inc. – Roofing, Done Right!, 5421 W. 84th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268, 317-***-****, Mike (Joshua) Glassburn, CEO, September 2014 - Inc. 500 (June 2014 to April 2015). I oversaw all of the corporate accounting and payroll functions for this commercial and residential roofing company, which involved the overall monthly preparation of the financial statements for both the corporation collectively, as well as for the individual jobs, and working with the CPA firm in preparing the annual work papers for the actual reviewed financial statements. I also prepared the cash flow projections, as well as the Work in Process (WIP) analysis in my accounting management role as an integral part of the overall corporate management team, made up of the CEO, VP’s and project GM’s. In its most recent year of operations Construct Solutions, Inc., again made the Inc. 500 listing, at number 410, of the most rapidly growing private companies, and has been in the Inc. 500 for the last three consecutive years running. The accounting software that was used was QuickBooks for contractors for all the accounting and payroll activities performed.

Tom Dufek, President, CEO (October 2000 to May 2009). I managed all of the financial accounting and reporting functions, the treasury functions, the computer information system, and the tax preparation and planning for this S-Corporation involved in the moving, storage, and transportation industry of both household and high value industrial products. I prepared all of the budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow analysis. I prepared the S-Corp tax returns on the cash basis, rather than on the accrual basis, upon which the financial statements were prepared. I prepared the owner’s individual tax returns, as well as the quarterly payroll tax returns for the corporation. I implemented all of the internal accounting controls to better identify and control the various sources and uses of cash. I worked closely with management in order to refocus the business on household moves, where there is a much higher profit margin, with more controllable costs. The accounting software that was initially used was M.Y.O.B. (Mind Your Own) Business) and later we implemented Compusource Van Line software (a modular package) for all of the accounting, in house payroll, and financial reporting functions.

I managed all of the accounting and computer operations for ten apartment complexes and one commercial property in the Indianapolis and Greenwood areas that we owned. I supervised a staff of two individuals, who handled all of the day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll operations for these ten apartment complexes and the one commercial real estate property. I also prepared and analyzed the monthly financial statements for these ten entities, and commercial property. I prepared all of the annual and quarterly tax returns for all of these entities. I prepared several partnerships, limited partnerships, fiduciary and S-Corp tax returns, as well as one of the owner’s own complex personal federal and state income tax returns. I prepared quarterly personal tax projection scenarios for one of the owners. I provided the financial and tax analysis for all future acquisitions of properties, and projected their impact on one of the owner’s own personal tax situation. I handled all of the company’s treasury functions, as well as determining where to invest surplus cash funds. I maintained the company's microcomputer accounting system, as well as, the general company management information system. The accounting software that was used then was Great Plains Accounting and Great Plains Dynamics, BNA Fixed Assets software Next Dimension, and BNA Income Tax Planner software.

I was responsible for the compilation and review of annual financial statements for distributors, retailers, and mortuaries. I also was responsible for auditing some pension plans. Most of this work involved the use of personal computers (including Lotus 1-2-3 and Microsoft Excel), regularly to expedite spreadsheet work and to maintain other various accounting records.

I was responsible for setting up the accounting information system for this newly formed aluminum fabrication company involved in a joint venture with Airstream. I prepared all of the financial statements, job cost analysis, and tax returns for this company, as well as doing the same work for two other companies owned by one of the company's owners. Most of this work involved the use of personal computers, and Excel spreadsheets. The accounting software that I used was Peach Tree Accounting.
