WORK EXPERIENCE

Horse Trainer

Self Employed - Evanston, WY - 1982 to Present

Responsibilities

Over the last decade, I have chosen specific horses to recover and recuperate back to a sound mind, body and soul, then found them homes where they could be utilized, loved and well-cared for.

In the pre-Internet/Cell phone era, I traveled the western states and Canada, on my own with the horses for most of 3 years.

Previously licensed Race Horse trainer in AZ, CA, CO, MT, WY, WA and Canada; win, place and show awards in each state.

None of the horses under my care sustained injuries of any kind.

AERC 1000 mile patch, completing many 50, two 65, and my first Big Horn 100 on the first attempt for me and the horse. No injuries in all those 1000+ miles, (in addition to thousands more miles of endurance training).

Competed on and handled various stallions and enjoy doing groundwork for weanling to first saddling for the kindergarten horses (and their humans). Many years of hunting and fishing trips in the mountains of Wyoming.

Trimmed and shod most of my own horses over the years, starting when I got my first horse at age 16.

I have studied and read many books on how emotional understanding and bonding with a horse or dog can heal mental health issues in humans. I aspire to learn more about this avenue with horses and dogs.

I hope to find “animal-environment” employment that can utilize my experience, sensitivities and formal teaching education.
