Director of Operations (2005-2016)

Direct all operations of two full operating facilities performing various manufacturing applications for all Major Automotive OEM’s and Tier 1 customers in high volume CNC Machining, vehicle underbody components and assemblies, Engine and Transmission Remanufacturing, automotive reclamation and de-rust, design and fabricate automotive equipment and tooling and Warehousing.

Direct the entire core team of Purchasing, Quality, MP&L, Human Resources, Department Management and Skill Trades with 112 plant hourly employees.

Develop all new business planning, process design and controls, integration through to full implementation. Developed, structured and organized the internal company PPAP process which resulted in multiple customer very successful approved processes.

Initiated and directed Lean Manufacturing principals. Initiated and directed team individual Program Improvements with Implementation savings of over 6.2 million to customers.

Plant Manager (2000 – 2005)

Directed a three shift operating facility manufacturing the GMX 380/381 Epsilon Welded Cross members and sequenced assembly Suspension Modules for the new G-6 and Malibu series serving multiple assembly plants. Highly technical automated processes consisting of 200 plus material handling and Welding robots. Overseen the Prototype builds and scheduling, process integration and the successful launch of each program. Directed all office and plant management staff with 212 union employees. Developed and Managed Quality Operating Measurable action list which consist of Safety, Housekeeping, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Employee Relations.

Directed a three shift operation that resulted in the successful launch of the GM Saturn LS, the largest Tier 1 underbody program in GM history. Developed annual business plan and MRO spending budget. Directed all day to day assembly operations and action plans to ensure productivity, safety, quality, housekeeping, cost, schedule and employee relations objectives were achieved. Developed customer relations through facility liaison development. Managed all inbound and outbound deliveries. Managed the complete quality and on time delivery requirements for the Tier 2 supply base. Developed a positive team environment between union and management. Instituted positive continuous improvement planning activities with timely executed standards.

*Production Superintendent (1996-1998)

Directed a two shift operation responsible for the model year balance out on the Grand and Jeep Cherokee full underbody weld production process lines. Managed the complete tooling and equipment teardown project to prepare facility for the Saturn LS automated weld and assembly process. Responsible for all production documentation development, manpower hiring and training, tooling preventive maintenance planning and error proofing, developing customer contact good relations as well with internal hourly employees to management.

*Production Supervisor (1995-1996)

Managed a three shift operation responsible for the production, scheduling and manpower utilization for the Grand and Jeep Cherokee full underbody weld processes. Maintained and improved all tooling performance efficiencies, quality, safety, housekeeping, cost, schedule and employee relations. Developed all manufacturing floor documentation from work instructions to Quality Control. Directly managed all production maintenance and preventive maintenance scheduling. Developed and implemented continuous improvements through team concept.

*Area Manager (1994-1995)

Managed the manufacturing operations of the Jeep Cherokee underbody rails. This process was manual feed resistance spot, mig weld machines and fastener feeders. Lead mig weld training courses for multiple manual weld applications. Managed all day to day production builds to meet customer requirement build schedules and quality standards. Developed team involvement and continuous improvement planning that produced annual achievements of 10k in manpower cost reductions, zero lost time injuries, zero customer complaints and improved operation efficiency from 82% to 113%.
