pathologist position. I will be obtaining my Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology in

May 2016. I believe my 4 years experience at the University of Minnesota Duluth within this

major has more than readily prepared me for an opportunity to prove my skill set at your facility.

My current internship placement is at St. Luke's Hospital of Duluth, MN. I believe the skills I am

learning every day fit within the requirements you are looking for in a potential speech language

pathologist. I am tasked with conducting evaluation, assessment and treatment for both inpatient

and outpatient adult and pediatric services with an emphasis on dysphagia and cognitive

communication rehabilitation. I have a passion for providing quality care to patients and a

Completed speech therapy for varying degrees of diagnosed communication disorders and ages.

Intervention and treatment included experience in both adult inpatient and outpatient services and

pediatric outpatient services. Implemented and executed treatment for dysarthria, language and

articulation, as well as inpatient adult neurogenic disorders of communication, cognition (TBI,

aphasia) and swallowing. Collaboration between related professions was emphasized;

specifically within the areas of, physical therapy, occupational therapy, registered nursing staff,

pharmacists and doctors of varying specialties. Therapy was performed via screening,

assessment, treatment and consultation. Performed dysphagia severity evaluations, assessments

and treatments at bedside and within outpatient clinical consultations. Applied formal cognitive

assessments including the Scales of Cognitive Ability for Traumatic Brain Injury (SCATBI), the

Ross Information Processing Assessment (RIPA) and the Western Aphasia Battery. Assessments

were completed both at inpatient bedside and within outpatient clinical services. Executed

language and articulation formal assessments such as the Preschool Language Scale-5 th Edition

and Goldman Fristoe Test of Articulation 2nd edition within outpatient clinical services.

Participated in making appropriate referrals for Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) and

assisted in the implementation of MBSS for diagnostic evaluations.

Scottish Rite Clinic for Childhood Language Disorders, Duluth, MN 4 months, 9/1512/15

Performed specialized communication therapy for children with autism ages 2 to 11 via

screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, intervention, consultation and follow

up services. Completed home visits as apart of outreach programs for clients. Participated in

workshops directed at parent education as well as Stage Play workshops for children with autism

in collaboration with Duluth Playhouse. Implemented evidence based treatment methods

including Hodsons cycles approach, Preschool Language Scale-5 th Edition, and developmental

and non-developmental sound acquisition theories. Provided consultation to parents and related

professionals during IEP meetings and progress notes. Recorded client advancement daily and

developed progress notes for clients receiving services.

St. Francis in the Park Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior, WI 3 months, 1/15-3/15

Performed specialized dementia therapy for groups of residents on a weekly basis. Intervention

included cognitive stimulation therapy. Implemented an appropriate theme to stimulate and

engage the residents, and provided an optimal learning environment and the social benefits of a

group-based therapy.

Provided screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and intervention for clients with speech and

language disorders. Planned and delivered assessment and individual intervention services as well

as organized group therapy sessions for communication disorders including TBI, aphasia, autism,

dementia, cognitive communication, social communication, language, articulation and phonology

disorders. Applied the use of instrumental technology including Real Time Pitch, and

augmentative and communication devices such as Proloquo2Go, Dynavox and Prentke Romichs

Vanatge Life. Collected and evaluated data regarding clients progress as well as wrote and

executed individualized treatment plans.

Provided safety, education, and therapeutic and recreational services for adults with TBI.

Implemented daily and monthly goals, worked with the residents to achieve monthly objectives,

charted and documented client progress, provided assistance with daily living skills and resolved

client disputes.

Completed training for a position as a freshman orientation group leader. Delegated and

implemented group organized activities and was responsible for 15 students during the course of

one week. Conducted and led daily group meetings, ensured students attended required activities

and provided any necessary assistance to new students.

China International Conference of Speech Therapy, Yichang, China, 2015

Collaborated with several students and implemented a presentation for the 4 th International

Conference of Speech Therapy. Presentation focused on the American undergraduate and

graduate CSD educational training. The presentation was completed with the goal of increasing

the awareness for speech language pathology in China. Awarded Most Outstanding

Presentation.
