Metlife Investor, Newport Beach, CA March 2001 – July 2003
Lead Developer (70%) and DBA (30%) responsible for converting MS ACCESS data to SQL Server for the Newport Beach office. Also used Visual Basic to convert flat files from an IBM Mainframe to SQL Server, T-SQL, for the Los Angeles office. This included designing the database structure, creating views, creating stored procedures and triggers, tuning, creating scheduled tasks, DTS, fail over cluster, upgrading SQL 7 to 2000, capacity planning, disaster recovery, backup/restore, profiler, performance monitoring, and VB/ASP programming. Other responsibilities included installing cluster service, configuring AWE memory, configuration of the SCSI Device, configuring the Node1, Node2, dish sharing, Sans, writing transactions, building Crystal Reports vs. 8, handling daily production issues, setting up user permissions, creating Visio diagrams, ER modeling, data flow diagrams, optimization and performance tuning. Designed data structrure for mortgage application stored in SQL Server 7, which required strong mathematical skills. Converted MS ACCESS mailing database to SQL Server 7 to utilize in their marketing campaigns. Also modified and fine-tuned various MS ACCESS reports, then converted them into (PDF) format in preparation for a new printing of one of their standard internal catalogues. Also used MS ACCESS’s reporting features to retrieve data now located in Oracle database.
