Research
Michigan Geological Survey, MGRRE Summer 2012 – Present
Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education
Organized and prepared core for workshops. Developed standard operating procedures for geochemical core sampling. Assisted with the drilling oversight and collection of core samples for a state glacial mapping project. Archived glacial borings at the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education.
Research Projects:
Core and Log Analysis of Late Pennsylvanian Sandstones Michigan Basin, USA
Sequence Stratigraphic Framework for the Marshal Sandstone Michigan Basin, USA
Characterization of Berea Bedford Sequence Sand-bodies in the Williams-Larkin Field and implications for EOR Michigan Basin, USA
Depositional Facies Analysis of The Middle Devonian Lucas Formation Supratidal Flats Michigan Basin, USA
Core and Log Analysis of the St. Peter Sandstone Michigan Basin, USA
Deposition Biological and Geochemical Stratigraphy of Middle Devonian Travers Group and Squaw Bay Carbonates Michigan Basin, USA
Teaching
Western Michigan University December 2013 - Present
Assist students in completing and understanding labs assigned for dynamic Earth GEOS: 1000, physical geology GEOS: 1300, geomorphology GEOS 4320, and hydro field camp (geophysics and remediation). Revitalized curriculum materials for GEOS: 1300 and GEOS: 4320 to streamline learning process. Prepared overviews of geologic topics and developed materials for classroom lectures and laboratories.
Michigan Geological Survey, Core Kids Outreach Program November 2013 – Present
Constructed visual displays for Michigan Basin history, and Michigan fossils modules to present at K-12 programs. Lead classroom programs for K-12 students on hydraulic fracturing, volcanos, earthquakes, geologic history, Michigan fossils, and the rock cycle. Assisted teachers in gathering K-12 geological materials to enhance in class discussions.
