Project Management leader in Providence’s internal Six Sigma/Lean/Project Management consulting group. Provided consulting services to Providence’s six hospitals in the areas of project management, revenue cycle enhancement, and the on-boarding of new acquired physician groups.

Major Contributions

Managed Providence’s acquisition of the Facey Medical Group. Served as the project leader managing the integration of the Facey Medical Foundation’s into Providence Health and Services. Managed the integration of Facey’s computer systems, workflows, training, and policies and procedures across the following areas: human resources, revenue cycle, payroll, and supply chain management.

Managed the establishment of Providence’s first California insurance product, the Providence Health Network (PHN). PHN enables the Providence Southern California region to operate a limited license, Medicare-only health plan and secure global financial risk HMO contracts. Served as the lead in submitting Providence’s successful application to the Department of Managed Care Services. Facilitated the development of PHN’s Phase 2 future growth strategy to move into commercial and Medi-Cal lines of business.

Project Management leader in the UCLA Health System’s internal consulting group, Ambulatory Operations. Provided consulting services to UCLA’s 80 outpatient clinics including business process re-engineering, optimal staffing analysis, IT system implementations, and strategic plan development. Major Contributions

Managed the implementation of a front-end revenue cycle solution for 80 outpatient clinics. Served as the project leader in collaboration with Huron Healthcare Consulting in the implementation of the ONTRAC Revenue Cycle Computer System. The goal of the system was the optimization of UCLA’s patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, billing and collections processes. Assumed overall responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of the system across all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements definition, design, development, testing, training, and post -implementation support.

The system implementation generated sustainable results including:

Increased front-end secure rate from 30% to 86%. Secure rate refers to confirming a patient’s ability to pay prior to check-in.

A 45% reduction in billing work-in-progress resulting in increased cash collections of $11 million.

KAISER PERMANENTE, Pasadena, CA, January 2002-February 2009. Project Manager

Project Management leader in Kaiser’s internal project management and business consulting organization. Provided business and IT clients with project implementation services with a strong focus on realizing business cases and fulfilling defined requirements. Experience managing teams ranging from small group of senior executives to project teams of 10-15 analysts and contractors.

Major Contributions

Provided Framework for the Improved Performance of Kaiser Permanente’s Information Technology Organization. Spearheaded the KP-IT strategic planning effort that improved the organizations integration, development, and support of software solutions. Led team of 12 senior executives and three staff members reporting directly to the Kaiser Permanente Chief Technology Officer.
