Plan and purchase materials thru SAP, utilizing Lean Manufacturing Principles. Kanban, JIT deliveries, monitoring flow of materials and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Prepare monthly production schedules against SOP (sales and operations plan).
Meet with current suppliers evaluating performance; reviewing potential areas of improvement, including price reductions, cost avoidance, savings, etc.
Work with potential new suppliers in obtaining quotes and comparative analysis.
Manage supply chain for parts exported to Asian affiliates.
Work with engineers on product development, die prove-in, requisitions and procurement of new materials.
Responsible for SAP set up of new materials/parts. Lead effort for prove-in of new materials.
Enhance quality systems, and other processes through root cause analysis and development of mistake proof guidelines
SUCCESSFUL ACHIEVEMENTS:
Implementation of combo ordering process with label supplier resulting in, annual cost avoidance exceeding $2M for the past three consecutive years.
Outsourced slitting operation with annual cost reductions of $235K.
Eliminated paper tubes, implementing reusable tubes – annual cost savings of $67K.
Executed new process reducing inventory time from five hours to two hours; a 60% reduction in time and 98% overall improvement in variances.
