Duties

Carrying out daily inspections, Repairs, services and maintenance of light and heavy mining equipment, mobile Generators and mobile Compressors systems like Cooling, Lubrication, Suspension, Braking, Steering, Fuel, Lubrication, Drive lines, Differentials, Final drives, Pivotal pins/ Bushes, Bearings etc. and ensure that work is done within scheduled time.

Carrying out On-Site and Off-site field breakdowns and repairs of highway and earth moving machines.

Ability to identify and diagnose vehicle faults and repair them.

Grease equipment to manufacturer recommendations.

Overhauls and general repairs (replacing and or modifying worn parts to keep components in working order) of various components including engines, gear boxes, transaxles, differentials, wheel hubs, final drives, valves - pneumatics/hydraulics, hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic jacks/hoists,

Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems and carry out replacements and repairs.

Maintenance and repair of Clayton Diesel Locomotive with Deutze Engine (air-cooled) 6 cylinder inline when worked at Rolling Stocks Section.

Maintenance and Service of Ingersoll Rand Screw Type Compressor MI 30

Perform pre-commissioning inspections and tests on rehabilitated machines.

Making sure the working bays, service pits and whole workshop are tidy to work in.

Carrying out failure analysis and prepare reports.

Machine overhauls (Rebuild) and assembly of buckets, dump boxes, differentials, final drives, hydraulic valves, hydraulic cylinders, axles, body works, etc. (Rehabilitation Section).

Stripping, repair, fitting and replacing any vehicle components (component change outs).

Reading and interpreting Hydraulic and electrical schematics to troubleshoot and affect repairs.

Aware of safety regulations when lifting heavy parts using lifting equipment stationary and mobile.

Preparing reports, presentations and other documents.

Perform out Lock out and Tag out procedures when carrying out inspections, repairs, service and maintenance.

Identify corrective work during PM inspections/maintenance and ensure information is recorded and sent to the planner for actions.

Work with planners to identify critical spares and consumables.

Perform house keeping in workshop and surrounding area.
