MINISTRY & SAFETY COMPLIANCE

Consistently met with 100% compliancy for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Health & Safety at Hawk Lake Lodge. Managed the Lodge and followed protocols to ensure fisheries were respected and that Health & Safety regulations were followed.

Rebuilt brand reputation and increased performance of Hawk Lake Lodge. Improved lodge upkeep and appeared on Specialty TV shows: Xtreme Angler, The New Fly Fisher, and Fisherman TV - encouraged past clients to return, promoted to new ones, and kept regular clients happy which improved the brand and made the lodge a high-rated fishing location.

Immediately led patrons to safety in a potentially dangerous lightning storm. Secured the safety of a client group by going ashore and building temporary shelter when a major unexpected lightning storm hit while on a boat at Hawk Lake Lodge.

LEADERSHIP & MENTORING

Developed a guided tour on Canadian ecosystems as a volunteer Wildlife Tour Guide for Fletcher Wildlife Garden.

Improved client care by training employees with fly fishing backgrounds in spin casting at Hawk Lake Lodge. Noticed that the majority of employees mainly knew fly fishing when few clients fly fished – took the initiative to train them to better serve to clients which improved overall client care.

TECHNICIAN & RESEARCH SKILLS

Contributed to Ministry of Natural Resources research on Small-Mouth Bass. Aided research on small-mouth bass impacting lakefront populations by doing aquatic surveys and assessments to acquire data for researchers from Hawk Lake Lodge.

Organized the moving of research equipment to a remote area at Hawk Lake Lodge. Using teamwork, research, and 2 months of planning, 2 research boats were moved to an outer lake within a reasonable amount of time.

Orvis Endorsed Senior Fish & Wildlife Technician (Seasonal)

Managed the fishing lodge with up to 15 employees (Waitresses, Dockhands, Housekeeping, Fish & Wildlife Technicians/Guides), oversaw all departments, and chaired the Health & Safety committee.

Scheduled and executed regular Health & Safety tasks like inspecting camps, equipment, vehicles, the restaurant area, and checking for hazards; kept and updated Health & Safety records to meet compliancy.

Liaised with the fire department, Health Canada, Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Labour to ensure lodge compliancy with government legislation and regulation.

Reviewed resumes, conducted interviews, hired and trained staff in survival and wildlife skills, navigation, proper use and upkeep of equipment, use of outdoor vehicles, Health & Safety, and client care.
