HSE duties and responsibilities have include:

Conduct hazard hunts and hygiene inspections:

Mud Laboratory inspections – focusing on cleanliness, proper labeling and storage of chemicals, MSDS, PPE, pre-job planning, and decontamination equipment.

Both documented and informal inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with all company policies and USCG/BSEE/DOT/EPA/OSHA regulations – as well as searching out physical hazards.

Inspection of all fire fighting, first aid, and other life saving equipment.

Ensuring that all environmental containment barriers are in place and Marine SOPEP spill kits are in place to prevent harm to the environment – zero discharge into the environment is always the goal.

Conduct potable water testing.

Ensure radiation source is properly stored and contained during non-destructive testing.

Galley inspections – focusing on cleanliness, proper food preparations, and food storage

Infirmary inspections – focusing on cleanliness and proper disposal of medical waste

Conduct incident investigation and prepare follow-up reports

Attend weekly and daily management meetings to advise on pertinent Health, Safety, and Environmental issues

Attend daily pre-tour safety meetings to advise the crew of Health, Safety, and Environmental issues that are specific to the upcoming tasks

Attend Tool Box talks with crews

Review JSEA’s

Review Permits to Work – Hot work, cold work, confined space entry, working at heights, and LOTO.

Generate written reports based on compiled HSE data to evaluate utilization and deficiencies of existing health and safety programs.

Oversee individual tasks of employees, coach personnel, and conduct post-task reviews

oFocus on PPE, ergonomics, safety practices, and compliance with company policies and governmental regulations

Special emphasis on high-risk operations such as critical crane lifts, high-pressure testing, and hazardous chemical transfers.
