Re: #****** - Mechanical Design Engineer
With over 17 years of proven Manufacturing, Mechanical and Design Engineering experience in the aerospace, medical, consumer electronics, and nuclear fields, I have a diverse array of creative problem solving skills and in-depth knowledge from which to tackle new challenges. I have safely, efficiently and successfully led teams and I have hands-on experience with every aspect of product and project management.
While employed at Pacific Tool, I was solely responsible for the mechanical development and production of a leading edge MRI medical device. Under my leadership, the product design cycle was reduced from 48 to 32 months, while meeting strict budget and regulatory parameters. Crucial, complex decisions concerning design, personnel, capital tooling, suppliers, and materials were inherent in achieving customer satisfaction, manufacturability, regulatory compliance, while meeting schedules and budgets.
As a Project Manager for Mackie Designs, I successfully completed four major projects and continuously managed two others before I was recruited to assume the leadership role as the Manufacturing Engineer for an assembly line of electro-mechanical digital audio recording products. My creative problem solving and can-do management style aided in my promotion to Mechanical Engineer for research and development of new products in collaboration with European and Asian design and manufacturing teams.
While employed by NW Technical Industries I was given a project regarding the explosive bonding of an aluminum tube to a larger steel tube. More than a half dozen engineers and experts in the field had attempted and failed in this intricate assignment, so it had languished without a solution for many years. My rigorous and detailed record keeping combined with meticulous, materials testing resulted in deciphering a finite matrix of variables that produced a consistent and hugely profitable product. I accomplished this unaided and during ‘down time’ over the course of a year. Ownership awarded me with a scholarship to complete my Mechanical Engineering degree.
My problem solving talents and adaptability earned me a US Naval Submarine Commendation during a sea-trials emergency.
Problem solving is my passion; diverse engineering experience is my tool. My resume begins to tell my story. A personal meeting with you will supply vivid details. My references and recommendations will more than support my abilities and can-do personality.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Elliott
