OBJECTIVE
To leverage my problem solving experience in engineering design and refocus my energy to software design. EXPERIENCE
08/2009-Current Project Lead / CAD Designer Morris & Associates, Inc. - Garner, N.C. o Work directly with customers, sales team, manufacturing and engineering throughout the design, fabrication and installation of custom industrial equipment systems. Mostly 40-100 ton per day ice makers & 8’-10’ wide x 20’-200’ long poultry chillers.
o Maintain and input new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) part numbers, bills of materials and manufacturing job updates. o Mentor new team members in Inventor designing technics, drawing standards and working with our ERP software (Syspro). o Rebuilt from scratch ERP companion application using VB.NET and M.S. SQL Server 2008 to compare jobs and their bill of materials for discrepancies. The previous application had multiple calculation errors, and did not track sub parts correctly. o Built several plugins using VB.NET and the Inventor API including an application to automate plasma file export. The original export process would take about a minute per file and each assembly could have as many as twenty files. The plugin only requires the user to specify a save location, which adds up to a few seconds for an entire assembly. Project Example #1 Nuclear Grade Concrete
Designed ice maker system to interface with a traditional concrete plant to control the temperature and curing rate of concrete for the nuclear reactor containment vessel.
On site Consultant for Morris & Associates, Inc. during the install phases of the projects. Worked directly with the construction crew and on site engineering staff to ensure the project stayed on schedule and was installed correctly. Project Example #2 Borated Ice for Nuclear Containment
Worked directly with our customer’s design and engineering team to seamlessly operate our new ice system with the existing ice delivery and storage system.
Redesigned the ice storage; it needed to hold a larger volume without expanding the outside dimensions of the storage bin as well as qualifying as a class III seismic structure. 02/2006-08/2009 CAD Designer / Assistant IT Peak Fall Protection - Apex, N.C. o Layout, design and draft fall protection systems. Worked with our engineering and sales team to bring solutions to our customer’s ANSI and OSHA compliance needs.
o Began the practice of importing images into CAD from scanned structural prints, Google Earth and MSN maps. Redrawing the structural roof layout from scratch could take up to eight hours per building. By implementing this new technic, the same building layout takes less than one hour.
o Developed and implemented CAD policies and procedures (templates, file naming, part numbering, etc.). o Assisted in maintaining company computers, servers and network (Windows user account groups and updates, Outlook accounts and SQL tables for ERP system MAS 90).
o Maintained and updated locally hosted PHP/CSS based company web site. o Set up Autodesk Vault Server to maintain and back up design documents. TECHNICAL SKILLS
o Languages: C++, Java, VB.NET, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, PHP o Software packages: Inventor, AutoCAD, Solid Works, Vault, Visual Studio, Toad and M.S. SQL Server 2008 o Build and customize computers including: 3D design work station for Inventor, Ubuntu (Linux) media server using Plex as the media manager and XRDP for access from local Windows machines.
