CAREER SUMMARY
Fourteen years experience as a Physician Assistant with the US Army.
Six years experience as sole primary care provider with minimal physician supervision in Wyoming.
Served four years as Senior Physician Assistant in the 1st Infantry Division (1ID), Germany where I was the primary care manager for the Commanding General and his staff.
Member of the credentials committee and responsible for pier reviews of all PA’s in the command.
Managed $750,000 medical budget to include Medical supplies, training, and continued medical education for all medical officers in the 1ID.
Served as the 1st Task Force Surgeon for the initial entry force into Kosovo.
PA for first unit into Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Southwest Counseling Services (SCS) Rock Springs, Wyoming, December 2003 – Present
Medical Administrator and primary care provider for 800 patients, including SCS staff, Sweetwater County employees, dependants of both, and mentally ill patients under the care of Southwest Counseling’s psychiatry department.
As the first provider in a new clinic, I was responsible for the initial set up and design of the patient care areas.
Provided competent, compassionate care for patients ranging in age from 1 year to 78 years with minimal supervision.
Duties include history and physical examination, medical evaluation and diagnosis in all specialties to include: dermatology, pulmonary, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, cardiology, gynecology, urology, and orthopedics.
Practiced aesthetics medicine which included Botox and Restylane injections.
Performed minor surgical procedures and wound closure.
Ordered diagnostic studies.
Working without a nurse, I was responsible for the patient from the time they checked in, until they were discharged.
With CLIA certification, did blood draws and provider-performed microscopy procedures.
Responsible for monthly reports, and ordering supplies for daily clinic operations.
Wuerzburg MEDDAC, Germany, August 2001 – November 2003
Primary care provider in the second largest clinic in Germany, serving 12,000 beneficiaries.
Responsible for the healthcare of my own panel of assigned patients.
Manage acute and chronic illnesses and injuries for patients ranging from age 2 years to the elderly.
Duties include history and physical examination, medical evaluation and diagnosis in all specialties to include: pulmonary, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, cardiology, gynecology, urology, and orthopedics.
Credentialed to see uncomplicated obstetric patients from initial OB to 36 weeks gestation.
Order diagnostic procedures; x-ray, EKG’s, CT Scans, MRI’s, and laboratory tests.
Perform minor surgical procedures, and wound closure.
Advocate for wellness and prevention.

1ID Senior Physician Assistant/ Deputy Division Surgeon, February 1997- August 2001
Advised the Division Surgeon and considered subject matter expert on all matters relating to the division’s PA’s.
Responsible for matters relating to combat health support to include; preventive medicine, environmental health, and quality assurance of health care provided to our soldiers and family members.
1st task force surgeon in Kosovo where I was responsible for daily medical operations to include; rendering care to soldiers in the task force and seriously injured or ill local nationals.
Assisted the forward surgical team in performing emergency surgeries, from amputations to thoracotomies
Coordinated with the Non-Government Organizations to bring the local hospitals in Kosovo back to operational status.
Briefed Senator Bob Dole on the medical operations during his visit to Kosovo.
Represented the Division as the medical company commander on all Partnership for Peace missions in which 24 countries participated.
Managed the division’s medical budget and training of the medics and medical officers.
Provided medical care to the Commanding General and his staff.
Battalion Surgeon 1-15 Infantry, November 1994- February 1997
Responsible for the medical care of a 750 man battalion and their family members.
Deployed to Macedonia where I was responsible for soldiers on 6 different outposts spread over a distance of 150 miles
Treated multiple injuries, to include burns, fractures, and lacerations.
Provided health care in austere conditions where lab and x-ray were not readily available, thus relying on my own acumen to make diagnosis, or evacuating the soldiers via air ambulance to the nearest facility 50 miles away.
Deployed to Bosnia where I was responsible for the health care for 2000 soldiers on Camp Colt.
Was the subject matter expert at the user level for telemedicine in Bosnia.
Physician Assistant 201st Forward Support Battalion July 1993- November1994
Responsible for my own panel of patients in the Family Practice clinic (duties similar to present duties).
Chosen to serve as Interim Division PA last 3 months on assignment.
Battalion Surgeon 1-15 Infantry December 1989- July 1993
First assignment as a Physician Assistant, duties similar to above duties.
Was attached to 3/2 Armored Cavalry Regiment which spearheaded the 7th Corps into Iraq during Operation Desert storm.
Treated combat casualties in a frontline aid station 25 miles from the nearest support unit and 125 miles from the nearest military hospital.
Treatment included; IV cut-down, thoracotomy, open abdominal wounds, open fractures, amputation. All with no lab or x-ray support, and without a physician on site.
