Objective:
Diligent, organized, and energetic chemical engineer seeks a position that draws upon rigorous education, high capacity for hard work, and positive attitude. Ideal opportunity offers challenging work in the laboratory and/or field, though candidate is open to all positions that provide opportunity to gain experience, learn from, and contribute positively to the team and organization with which he is working.
Education:
Purdue University – Department of Engineering, West Lafayette, Indiana May 2013
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering
Relevant coursework includes: Physical Chemistry, Heat & Mass Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, Organic Chemistry, Materials Engineering, and Advanced Calculus up to and including Differential Equations. Previous Work Experience:
Kaztronix on behalf of Johnson & Johnson, Skillman, New Jersey May 2014 – August 2015 Technical Assurance Scientist I
As a contract worker hired for JNJ assignment, quickly learned, then documented and coordinated in-depth chemical analyses of raw materials from potential suppliers to ensure that prospective product samples were equivalent to, or better than, incumbent materials and that all clinical claims were upheld for all formulations.
Worked in sophisticated professional laboratories performing quality control testing on the physical properties of formulations and assessing equivalence/variance between control and alternate materials.
Worked with multi-functional teams to coordinate required testing of various materials for aspects other than chemical equivalency such as product feel, manufacture impact, and labeling requirements. Voltaix, Branchburg, New Jersey May - August 2011 and 2012 Engineering Intern
At a plant under construction, inspected a process scrubber and its associated equipment for heat generation characteristics. Identified design issues/flaws that led to early resolution of a potential overheating scenario which could have resulted in equipment damage, safety concerns, and may have delayed the plant becoming operational.
Proof-checked site plans and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) for currently operating facilities and planned construction in order to assure correct connectivity and up to date accuracy. Found multiple inconsistencies that enabled plant schematic updates and streamlined the maintenance process resulting in reduced time and costs.
Developed Excel program: (1) to model the expected pressure drop across all piping, equipment and fittings; (2) to accelerate and increase accuracy of blockage identification and resolution; and, (3) to prevent over-pressurization of, and identify leakages in, pyrophoric/hazardous processes.
Bench-tested electrical relay cabinets and gas detection safety sensors before shipment to final installation at a plant in the final stages of construction.
Fiabila USA Inc., Mine Hill, New Jersey May - August 2009 Intern
Performed quality control to ensure customer specifications were met before shipping by completing tests assessing color, gloss, hardness, drying time and viscosity.
Facilitated the switch from a physical storage of customer samples to a digital database where all product specifications would be recorded for faster reference and verification. Skills and Interests:
Well versed in chemical, factory floor, and laboratory safety procedures and protocol.
Proficient in JAVA computer programming language and the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.). Familiar with the AutoCAD Software.
Conversationally fluent in Spanish.
Enjoys traveling, reading, tennis, and strategy games. Stephen A. Aswad
