SUMMARY

During my career I work in full spectrum of roadway design: Horizontal and Vertical Geometry (my specialty is Interchange Design), Traffic Control, and Barrier Warrant Analysis. I am also responsible for Project Quality and Assurance.

I worked on many major Illinois Tollway, IDOT and WisDOT projects, most recently on geometry and project quality and assurance for Elgin-O’Hare Western Access Tollway project.

Projects:

• Illinois Tollway, Elgin-O’Hare Expressway, Lead Design Engineer - GRAEF was part of Joint Venture Team (G.E.B. JV) that developed Phase II design plans for the widening and overlay of the existing section of the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway from Lake Street to Meacham Road. This existing facility is to become a Toll Road after completion of the improvement. My responsibility included roadway design, three plaza (the first mainline I-PASS ONLY plazas in Illinois) design, and overall project quality control.

• Illinois Tollway, I-90 Tollway Reconstruction from IL Route 53 to Oakton Street - Internal quality control on noise wall design and traffic control.

• Illinois Tollway and Village of Hoffman Estates, I-90 Tollway at Barrington Road Interchange Study - I prepared eleven geometry options of this interchange. Single point urban diamond (SPUD) type has been selected for further design.

• WisDOT, I-94 from Zoo Interchange to Stadium Interchange Reconstruction in Milwaukee - Phase I design (horizontal and vertical geometry) of four interchanges along four-mile freeway widening and reconstruction.

• IDOT, US Route 34 from Yorkville to Oswego - Phase I and Phase II design plans for the widening (from 2 to 4 lanes) to relieve highway congestion. Work included highway geometry, intersection design, and traffic control.

• Illinois Tollway, IDOT and Village of Huntley, I-90 Tollway at IL Route 47 Interchange Reconstruction, Lead Design Engineer - Phase I and Phase II design plans for All Electronic Tolling Interchange. Responsibilities included interchange and toll plaza geometry, Barrier Warrant Analysis, traffic control, and overall internal project quality control.

• IDOT, US Route 30 at IL Route 31 Interchange Reconstruction, Lead Design Engineer - Phase II design plans for the improvement of this geometrically substandard interchange. Roadway design, traffic control, and internal quality control were my tasks working on this project.

• Illinois Tollway, Bridge Repair, Tri-State Tollway from 87th Street to I-290 - Traffic control and Barrier Warrant Analysis (guardrail replacement to comply with new standards).

• WisDOT, US Route 41 with 41/127 Interchange Reconstruction in Green Bay - Phase I design (horizontal and vertical geometry) of four interchanges along five-mile freeway widening and reconstruction. Internal quality control for all stages of project.

• Illinois Tollway, Open Road Tolling (ORT) Improvements, Cermak Plaza at Tri-State Tollway, Lead Design Engineer - Improvements associated with converting this plaza to an ORT facility. Project consisted of roadway removal and reconstruction with CRC pavement and roadway widening with jointed concrete pavement. Focused on I-PASS only lanes, plaza approaches, and interchange design.

• Illinois Tollway, Open Road Tolling (ORT) Improvements, Irving Park Plaza and 82nd Street Plaza at Tri-State Tollway - Quality control of GRAEF subconsultant’s roadway and plaza design.

• Illinois Tollway, I-88 Tollway at Eola Road Interchange Construction - Signage, pavement marking, intersection design, and Barrier Warrant Analysis for the first interchange with I-PASS ONLY ramp plazas in Illinois. ASCE’s PROJECT OF THE YEAR AWARD.

• IDOT, IL Route 83 Reconstruction from Wisconsin State line to Metra RR Overpass (included) Reconstruction - Intersection details and traffic control on seven-mile project.

• WisDOT, US Route 51 to Interstate I-39 Conversion in Wausau - Phase I design (horizontal and vertical geometry) of six interchanges along eight-mile freeway widening and reconstruction.

• Illinois Tollway, South Tri-State Major Reconstruction from 133rd to 144th Street, Lead Design Engineer - Revisions to mainline profile, modification of embankments and super-elevation, pavement widening, right-of-way analysis, and design of noise wall.

• IDOT, Harlem Avenue from Cullom Avenue to Higgins Road - Construction staging and intersection improvements.

• Illinois Tollway, Reconstruction and then Removal of Deerfield Plaza at Tri-State Tollway, Lead Design Engineer - Six miles of roadway widening on the Tri-State Tollway and the Edens Spur, reconstruction of two overpasses, design of tunnel for exit ramp, reconfiguration, then ultimately removal of Deerfield Plaza.

• Illinois Tollway, Design Upon Request - Systemwide - Design Engineer on several engineering services.

• Kane County, IL, Kirk Road - Design Engineer for construction and traffic staging of an overpass rehabilitation.

• Site Design - Parking lots for Jefferson Park Metra Station, Arlington Heights Fire Station, Orchard Lane Market Place in Round Lake Beach, and four post offices. Grading, drainage, and detention pond design.
