Responsible for the commercial and operational activities of 2 facilities producing mechanical fasteners for the aerospace including direct sales to all the major airplane manufacturers. These non-union plants include nearly 1000 associates with revenues in excess of $300M annually.

AMERICAN ALUMINUM EXTRUSION – Beloit, WI, Roscoe, IL and Canton, OH

General Manager: September, 2014 – May, 2015

Temporary Assignment – Responsible for all commercial and operational activities for 3 extrusion facilities with a focus on establishing strategic and business planning processes along with structure, a lean production system (AAPS), and developing an effective leadership team.

NANSHAN AMERICA: Lafayette, Indiana

General Manager – September 2012 thru April 2014

Responsible for all commercial and operational activities for this $175 million stand-alone, green site company start-up. This includes equipment installation, commissioning, building a team and establishing core values and principles along with strategic, sales and operational plans and objectives.

Built a 650K sq. ft. manufacturing plant and installed 2 extrusion presses, a cast house and supporting equipment for what is considered the most advanced soft alloy aluminum extrusion facility in the United States and possibly the world. Within 18 months all equipment was installed, commissioned, and in production by closely managing the activities of all vendors, OEM’s, and other Nanshan partners to assure the project was delivered on time and at the best value for Nanshan.

Selected and hired a strong leadership team along with enthusiastic and involved associates establishing a team based, empowered, and integrity driven culture based on a continuous improvement mindset.

Originated and deployed the “Nanshan Production System” as Nanshan’s version of the Toyota Production System.

Full P&L responsibility for a $200 Million revenue manufacturing facility with 300 associates. Spearheaded vision, strategy, and execution of all manufacturing activities, strategic plans, product development and pricing. Created a prospering business from a "harvest" thru product line rationalization and operational efficiencies including the development and implementation of the Kaiser Production System.

Delivered improved results in all key metrics while managing thru a 2 year labor strike and 4 years of bankruptcy. Delivery performance improved from 73% to 95%. Complaint/claim rate reduced by 40%. Injury rates decreased 60% and reduced costs by $10M.
