EDUCATION
The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH Graduation: August, 2015 B.S. Mechanical Engineering Overall GPA (4.00 scale): 3.31 Achieved Dean’s List (>3.5 GPA) 3 semesters
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- SolidWorks, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Microsoft Office
- Laboratory experience with designing air piston, precision measurements, and product design LANGUAGE SKILLS
Proficient in English, Mandarin, Malay
ACADEMIC GROUP ENGINEERING PROJECTS
Senior Capstone Transmission Design Project (March, 2015 – June, 2015)
- Collaborated with 4 other students to design a semi-automatic shifting manual transmission using Arduino, magnetic rotary encoders, and a power window motor as a shifting mechanism.
- Designed the Arduino code to upshift and downshift through the sequential gears.
- Designed and fabricated the gearbox for the installation of sensors and actuators. Rube Goldberg Machine (RGM) (January, 2015 – March, 2015) Innovative apparatus that is intentionally over-engineered to perform a very simple task in a very complicated method.
- Worked in a team of 5 members in building a RGM that incorporates several servo motors, pulley system, light sensor, sound sensor, and a push button.
- Brainstormed to translate viable events into workable RGM events.
- Extensive used of open source electronic platform, Arduino, to program the RGM to perform without any human interaction.
Horizontal Right-Angle (HRA) Speed Reducer (August, 2014 – December, 2014) A mechanical device reduce amount of input torque and rotary speeds to produce the demanded output.
- Designed the speed reducer focusing on gear ratio calculation in order to determine the radius and number of spurs and bevel gears require based on design specification.
- Incorporated gear ratio results with torque calculations to determine shaft size, bearing, seal, and housing.
- Tabulated the data and dimensions of each component for easier reference.
- Used loading and bending moment diagrams for more detailed stress analyses of each component, as well as the layout sketch of the reduction unit.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Nestlé Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia
Student Engineer Intern (June, 2014 – August, 2014)
- Responsible in the engineering department’s maintenance and program improvement by following a mentor
- Analyzed factory’s general service pipeline to update P&ID diagram. (Steam, chilled water, and hot water) to maintain good housekeeping for the factory.
- Overviewed the system flow of manufacturing instant noodles.
- Engaged and familiarized the functions and maintenance strategies of each machine in the manufacturing process in order to minimize major breakdowns in the machine.
