Director – Talent Management, Mergers & Acquisitions and HR Business Partner 2014-Present

Talent management leader for the global enterprise, responsible for talent acquisition and university relations, talent management, leadership development, succession planning and diversity and inclusion. Also lead M&A due diligence and integration and serve as business partner for the global HR stream.

Led creation of a senior leader development program focused on growth capability for launch in 2016.

Spearheaded creation of a global development program for new managers, resulting in training of 250 new managers as well as all future new managers.

Established Global Diversity & Inclusion Council and enterprise strategy. Improved diverse hiring by 12%.

Director – HR and Organizational Advancement 2009-2014

Led a team of 6 HR business partners for the $3.5b Bearings and Power Transmission business, which included Aerospace, Mobile Industries, Power Transmission, Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Research and the Corporate Centers.

Implemented Strategic Workforce Planning, which was adopted across the global enterprise.

Directed 17 organization restructure initiatives, including Aerospace restructure with savings of $3m.

Executed due diligence and integration for multiple acquisitions and divestiture of $1b business, resulting in 1-2 successful acquisitions per year.

Director – Staffing & Development 2003-2009

Established Talent Acquisition and Talent Development functions for the enterprise.

Designed and implemented a global Leadership Pipeline talent management infrastructure, evolving from a single competency model to unique competencies at each level of the organization.

Established the Recruiting, University Relations and Talent Development functions and implemented a global CRMS (Taleo) and LMS (SumTotal), enabling centralized management of these functions.

Created and launched a Senior Leader Development Program in partnership with the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia, resulting in development of the top 150 global leaders.

Plant Manager – Ashland Tooling Plant, Ashland Ohio 1997-2000

Managed the company’s tooling manufacturing facility, leading a team of 155 salaried and operative associates.

Led the achievement of ISO 9001 certification.

Developed/implemented a Gainsharing plan, resulting in a self-funding plan through lower Unabsorbed.

Implemented an operative performance appraisal system, enabling the plant to link pay to performance.

Manager – Health Care Planning & Administration 1993-1997

Implemented and administered “managed health care” plans, an integrated retail/mail prescription network, vision care and managed behavioral health programs for North America. Reduced health care cost CAGR from 14% to 9% for active associates and $7M reduction in retired medical cost. Developed benefits strategy for labor negotiations with United Steelworkers of America, resulting in management’s right to designate HMOs, PPOs.

Global Manager – Human Resources – 21C Project 1990-1993

Led the development and implementation of operating practices, self-directed work team model, organization design, selection procedures, compensation and benefits programs and training programs for a state-of-the-art greenfield plant in North Carolina. Work practices resulted in plant start-up with no supervisors.

Supervisor – Quality – Gaffney Bearing Plant, Gaffney SC 1989-1990

Managed the quality assurance function in an 800-employee bearing plant. Developed quality procedures and directed TQM and Process Control programs.

Assistant to the Managing Director – British Timken, Northampton U.K. 1986-1989

Selected for prestigious expatriate role with responsibility for strategic planning and performance measurement. Led two European sourcing initiatives for Transport and Packaging, reducing costs by 30% and streamlining the number of vendors by 75%. Led a Manufacturing Profitability Task Force, resulting in a plan for European capacity rationalization and the closure of one plant and multiple operating departments in another.
