Executive Summary: -

Currently a PhD candidate - Mechanical Engineering, focusing on engines, energy conversion, economics and business strategy. The primary focus is studying the combustion pattern, emissions and performance of engines fuels, studying the wear and tear pattern of engine components, performing an economic analysis for sustainability and studying various business scenarios proposing the SWOT analysis to provide business solutions in emerging technologies.

Past industrial experiences with Wärtsilä included hands on experience with engines – both large bore and small bore, Natural Gas, Dual fuel and Diesel engines, power generation and automotive engines, proposing technical business solutions tailored to customer requirements, assisting live sales and negotiations with customers for turnkey projects, working with cross-functional departments – Technical, Sales, Project, and Service, collaborating with multinational teams for system integration of mechanical and business systems. Education & Research:

August 2012 - Present: PhD Candidate and Graduate Researcher, Colorado State University. o Highlights ( GPA 3.7/4.0 ): -

Engine Testing – A comprehensive study involving combustion statistics - burnt mass fraction, pressure trace and heat release. Engine performance – brake fuel consumption, brake thermal efficiency and 5-gas emission analysis.

Engine Durability – A qualitative study of the in-cylinder carbon buildup & injector spray pattern in a single cylinder Yanmar engine and analyzing the effects of different fuels in long term engine running on the wear and tear of the engine.

Economic Feasibility - This study involved choosing and defining various input parameters, consideration of the investment, loans, rate of interest and depreciation of the components to predict the Return on Investments (ROI) to analyze the feasibility of setting up a business.

Business Model – Techno-commercial business strategy proposal involving detailed study of SWOT and TOWS, identifying the key partners and elements and analysis to leverage various strengths to develop a profitable business.

Senior Design – Guide and mentor team studying after-treatment of diesel engines. Develop and analyze the mixing system for exhaust treatment to meet Tier- IV emission norms.

August 2010 - 2012: Master of Science and Graduate Researcher, Colorado State University. o Highlights: -

Engine Testing – A comprehensive study involving engine performance – brake fuel consumption, brake thermal efficiency and 5-gas emission analysis of alternative fuels and their comparison to diesel.

Fuel Property – Analysis of various fuel properties like density, viscosity, cold filter plug point, cloud point and Metals/Minerals. Co-relate these properties to the fuel consumption and emissions and suggest alternatives.

Engine System Design - Design and set-up an auxiliary fuel system, cooling systems, data acquisition (LabView) and safety system for engine testing and research.

Cross-functional Teams – Interact and data sharing with various cross-functional teams including agriculture, genetics, economics and engineering for achieving a common goal.

August 2003 – May 2007: University of Pune, Tata Cummins and A.R.A.I (Pune). o Highlights: -

2nd rank in the college.

Project - Test Tata Cummins Engine at A.R.A.I to meet Euro II emission norms. Use Minitab to analyze various combinations of type injectors, turbocharges and fuel pump.

Coursework: Mathematics, Advanced Calculus, Thermodynamics, Heat & Mass Transfer, Mechanical system design, Refrigeration & Air conditioning, I.C Engines, Operational Research
