4 OLAP cubes
Key Projects Undertaken:
Project DWH and SharePoint reporting. Duration: 12 months
Environment: SQL Server 2012, Microsoft Visual Studio, Power BI, SharePoint 2013, SQL Server Management Studio 2012, MS Office 2013, TortoiseGit, Enterprise Architect, Redmine
Detail:
The project aimed at creating a historical data storage and dynamic, interactive reporting system for the client which allows the managers to make any decision about balancing the remainder in stock, planning production of vehicle parts, procurement planning.
Project DWH and SSRS reporting. Duration: 16 months
Environment: SQL Server 2012, SQL Server Integration Services, Microsoft Visual Studio, Power BI, SharePoint 2013, SQL Server Management Studio 2012, MS Office 2013, TortoiseGit, Enterprise Architect, Redmine
Detail:
This project helps the client to gather information about cargo shipments, calculation of payment amount and gathering/summarizing payments from customers. An important part of the project was to build optimized data warehouse (data marts) that can quickly handle any amount of data.
Project DWH and SharePoint reporting. Duration: 10 months
Environment: SQL Server 2012, Microsoft Visual Studio, Power BI, PowerPivot, PowerQuery, PowerMap, SharePoint 2013, SQL Server Management Studio 2012, MS Office 2013, TortoiseGit, Enterprise Architect, Redmine
Detail:
The project aimed at creating a data storage from various (three) data sources and reporting system for the top managers of the plant for the production of metal products. There are financial and quantitative reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The objectives of the project included: to minimize data update time in the DWH, update the data every hour during the working day, sending reports using data-driven subscriptions and using principal data flow for change data capture.
Projects summary:
Data models was designed using Enterprise Architect (UML Design Tools) for all projects above. Was provided a full life cycle modeling for DWH's and DM's. Dependencies, relationships between objects, keys and constraints were taken into account in the data models. Physical data models was developed from these design documents.
A lot of attention was paid to SSIS packages that were supposed to merge data from multiple heterogeneous data sources. It were PostgreSQL databases, SQL databases and flat files. Packages checked the quality of incoming data, providing data cleansing, auditing, changes in dimension members and handle these according to business rules and maintaining historical changes.
4 Cubes for different clients were developed. Main subject areas: inventory, supply chain management, financial reporting. What been applied: data partitioning, MOLAP storage mode. All OLAP cubes have been used in offline mode and was updated once a day or by request.
It was developed a lot of T-SQL scripts, user functions, stored procedures, triggers, views (standard, indexed, partitioned). Dimensional modeling was chosen as modeling technique in data warehouses and data marts with complex snowflake model.

Project OLTP, OLAP and EDW. Duration: 18 months
Environment: SQL Server 2012, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Management Studio 2012, MS Office 2010, Redmine
Detail:
The project aimed at creation of an optimized highly loaded transactional database and historical data storage.
Implementation of all business processes for the correct operation of call center of 500 people.
More than 15 OLAP cubes were created for dynamical reporting. It was a lot of end-users (about 70) from different departments. Particular attention was paid to creating OLAP cubes for accounting department, analytics and finance department. Basically it was MOLAP storage mode. The main objective was to achieve maximize query performance. For this purposes Proactive Caching (Partitions) was used. As data source for data warehouse cubes were DWH and datamarts and it was incremental data updates of objects in MOLAP storage without taking the partitions and cube.
Online call center processes monitoring, online data replication, data calculation for the next call/case, decision making system based on customer segmentation. DWH holds all the business information an organization, was accessible all across the company and have a single version of truth.
Summary: experience in asset management. Understanding of OLAP vs. OLTP database design principles. OLTP database stores information only for current case which is should be processed in call center. All business rules, complex calculations and historical information are stored in the data warehouse. A lot of attention was focused on the data locks. Meanwhile balance between performance and data quality has been kept. SQL Server Profiler was a primary tool for this purposes.
