As an ICU Nurse, I render intensive nursing care to clients
according to their individual needs utilizing the nursing
process or scientific problem approach. I assess client
conditions continuously through the use of monitors, ventilators
and other devices. I render direct nursing care and administer
treatment and other procedures. Provide emotional support to the
patient and members of the family. I possess adequate knowledge
regarding varying laboratory procedures and their corresponding
normal values. I also supervise staff nurses during their
orientation to our unit. Participate actively in the in-service
education programs. I'm also able to insert IV infusion lines
when necessary ; manipulate equipment/apparatus- like
ventilators, defibrillators, cardiac monitors and etc. ;
administer oxygen therapy; anticipate treatment regimen and
prepare emergency drugs. I also substitute head nurses when
delegated to do so. Assist the physician in diagnostic,
therapeutic and palliative measures. Maintain a therapeutic
environment for the patient and actively participate in the
general activities of the nursing services department.
