Offshore Steward, Aug 2014 – Present

Re-employed by ESS to work on a short term contract as a Steward on the Safe Caledonia Flotel, I have worked 3 trips, 2 on night shift (1 of these was as the Utility Steward and the 2nd trip as the Galley Steward) and 1 on day shift where I worked in Accommodation.

Offshore Steward, Aug 2013 – March 2014

Recent Offshore experience with Eurest Support Services, as a steward on board Maersk FPSO’s . The role involved working as part of a team within the galley and accommodation areas and as an integral member of the First Aid Team.

Executive Officer, Child Support Agency Nov 2005-Aug 2013

Employed as an Executive Officer caseworker with the Child Support Agency where my main duties included working complex cases which require additional technical skills and in-depth decision making beyond that of administrative levels. This role also included training and coaching to Administrative Officers; supporting staff who have training needs and carrying out full checks on all completed cases ensuring that all necessary policies and procedures have been followed and adhered to.

Hospitality Industry Jan 2002-Nov2005

On leaving the Royal Navy I worked in a number of jobs in the hospitality industry with organisations such as Azure @ Rangers Football Club, Food Partners Kilmarnock and Great North Eastern Railways. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry these were predominately short term contracts and which resulted in me taking a full time position with the CSA in 2005.

Chief Petty Officer, Royal Navy July 1977-Jan 2002

Following successful selection into the Royal Navy I trained in all aspects of bar service, accounting and management becoming highly trained in waiting, pantry and accommodation service, food service, care and control of tableware and catering and personal hygiene. I gained promotion to a supervisory capacity for the above functions and on further promotion employed in departmental managerial positions.

Personal Interests

I enjoy most sports and participate in golf, enjoy walking and have completed a few challenging walks to raise funds for Help 4 Heroes (The Rob Roy Way, The Spey Bay Walk, The Ayrshire Coastal Path and the St Cuthbert’s Way in Northumberland). I also enjoy watching football and rugby and have a love of foreign travel.
