Work Experience

ETL Consultant, Coach Inc., New York, NY, Jun 2015 – Present Tech stack used: Informatica, Netezza, Aginity, Linux, Tidal, Jira Projects:

DM conversion: DM is a data migration process written in Visual Basic to extract data from files sourced from SAP to the EDW (Enterprise data warehouse) in Netezza. This project is to convert the ELT process developed in Visual Basic to an ETL process in Informatica. Goal was to identify and reduce / eliminate redundant and inefficient extract and load process and to achieve the load time thresholds. Other than lack of in-house ex- pertise with Visual Basic, the process was hard to track back on any data issues identified. Push down optimi- zation was utilized as much as possible to enhance the load performance. Principal Engineer, Priceline.com Norwalk, CT, Nov 2006 – May 2015 Tech stack used for the below projects: Informatica, Oracle DB, Erwin, Oracle Financials, PL/SQL, OBIEE, Visio, Toad, Linux Projects:

AP (Accounts Payable) Data mart: This data mart was primarily built to identify and resolve incorrect hotel charges. Millions of dollars were being lost to over charges from hotels. Data mart provided ease of reporting and identifying areas to focus on. Segregation of types of overcharges helped targeting / follow up with hotels and get money back. The datamart also helped identifying issues with the front end (website selling reserva- tions) such as incorrect room rate being used, or a missing fee, etc. Processes such as discrepancy faxes, chargeback process were built around the data mart helping recover money from the vendors.

OIC (Oracle Incentive Compensation): OIC is a cloud based product used for paying commissions to Priceline’s affiliates for bringing traffic to the website. Informatica was used to extract data from the transactional sys- tems, transform and load them in OIC. This included migration / conversion of data from the old affiliate pay- ment system. IDQ was utilized to identify and eliminate duplicates.

Commission Data Store / Data Mart (CDS): CDS was built to be able to report on revenues made from agency transactions (commission transactions). This was also used to create receivables once the payment file is re- ceived from vendors. OBIEE reports were developed from this datamart. This project not only helped with ease of reporting but also helped identify pain areas and improve on revenue generation. This also became a major data source for the OIC project.

Data warehouse ETL Tuning: Identified bottle necks with ETL loads in the existing data warehouse. Re-wrote certain mappings and tuned existing mappings to improve performance. Identified need to drop constraints, create indexes, create partitions at the DB level to enhance performance. Load times were reduced by more than 50%.

Lawsuit data automation: This project was to build a system so that data can be readily available for any law- suit requests. PL/SQL package was created to extract the data from various sources and load into Oracle ta- bles. An interface was provided to the legal team to call the Oracle package with the required inputs. This also eliminated any possibility of a manual error in retrieving the data which could cause loss of effort and dollars.

ERP migration: Migrated / converted from old ERP system (GEAC) to Oracle Financials. Informatica was used to convert and migrate the data to the new ERP system. Challenges were to understand the new system to be able to design the conversion process. I was primarily responsible for conversion of the AP (Accounts Payable), AR (Accounts Receivables) and vendor data.

Responsibilities:

Lead projects at various stages from requirements gathering and business rules analysis to creating logical and physical database model, ETL design, development and reporting.

Understand different data sources involved and create source to target mappings, data mapping, data diction- ary to enable high quality end product.
