Batangas Dairy and Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BADACO)completed the hands-on training on Dairy Production
Milking Cows
- Report to the Milking parlor on time
- Rinses with water the milk line and cluster
- Puts feeds on the feeding trough
- Brings the cow to the milking parlor and strips the teats
- Pre-dip with sanitizer and clean with rug/cloth before milking
- Starts the machine
- Attaches cluster 60-90 seconds after udder preparation
- Observe milk flow until complete extraction of the milk
- Detach the cluster from teats
- Sanitizes the teats using post-dip sanitizer immediately after milking
- Open the gate and bring the cows to the paddock
- Cleans milking equipment immediately after milking
Calf Rearing
- Post birth management, be ure that the airway is clear by wiping the nose with a clean cloth. check if the calf is breathing. Dip the navel with of iodine (2% solution)
- Feeding colostrums, give the calves with colostrums as soon as possible by letting the calf suck the milk from the mother. Extract the milk (colostrums) manually and use nursing bottle to feed calf.
- Feeding milk, feed the calf with wholemilk, twice a day at 10% body weight of the calf.- Dry feeding, introduce coarse calf mixture ( creep feeds) 1-14 days after birth and give fresh grass.
- Dehorning, restrain the calf. Using the dehorner heated at the amber with the temperature of not less than 100c (red hot) place the dehorner on the horn bud for 10-30 seconds.
Fencing
- Uses electric shocks to deter animals of people from crossing a boundary.
- It also psychological barrier that keeps farm animals in and wild animals and vermin out even a long distance.
- Check light indicators of electric fence box
- Clean Electric fence box from dust/spider web an other hide insects
- Replace broken post insulator/ Check Unusual ground sound
- Check and fix broken or cut wire.
- Cut forage over growth under the wire connection
- Check voltages reading in parallel wire connection (every 20 meters)
- Unplug the electric fence during electric storm
Tractor Driving
- Farm machinery and drive the various farm implements, completed in agriculture cultivation, rake, or inter transport and other operations.
- Used to transport forage grass or other farm duties that involves in transportation.
- Before starting engine wash/wipe, check oil level, gas level, water radiator, battery connections,all control levers and check tires.
