Experience
I'm an experienced Health and Social Coordinator with qualification's in a Health and Social care background. I have a high level of experience which I've implemented in my work allowing me to provide effective and efficient care services to users in a multi cultural community since 1991.
I'm a generic Health and Social manager with 19 years worth of experience. I'm currently managing staff & preparing weekly rota's to ensure all our clients receive exceptional service at appropriate care times. Providing effective supervision of care staff maintains a safe working practice for clients, relatives and representatives in line with the CQC standards.
In my current position I’ve been on various client review's, committees, carried out spot checks, arranged team meetings, received referrals from a range of sectors and undertaken initial assessment visits to clients. I regularly attend review meetings at client homes where we discuss the care their receiving or contact the next of kin and social worker. I also deal with the office and basic personnel administration, I carry out all duties set by Housing 21 (Current employer) care policies, procedures and legislation requirements.
With my five years experience in a managerial role I’ve gained proficient leadership skills thus motivating staff. Through my years I have maintained a fair, open and healthy relationship with staff, made decisions with confidence, dealt with complaints and behaviour from staff and clients. The ability and skill of building team spirit has contributed to the success of the team. Adequate resources are provided for the team such as training needs and appropriate materials in order to carry out their duties to our standards. I've reinforced how success is celebrated and discipline is maintained and addressed when tasks are not met. I have superb organisational skills such as organising staff. Regular team meetings are conducted and also one to one's. During the review process both personal and work related matters are reviewed as future training may be required.
Skills & Abilities
Meeting a varied array of needs and concerns due to the nature of my work has tested my organisational skills. I'm able to provide clients with the right support when required and I’m also careful when prioritising my time. I have excellent communication & have the ability to network with people.
Being flexible, committed, dedicated and persistent to achieve goals are all skills and attributes I hold. In addition, I am able to identify and resolve problems. When confronted with difficult situations in the past I’ve taken a considerable time out to avoid rushing decisions without making proper enquiries and investigations.
Having worked with authority and other services has improved my dynamic attention to detail. The ability to review performance has been my great weapon. In the past I’ve carried out surveys to judge's of clients. Gathering application, short-listing potential staff and conducting interviews is something I not only enjoy but have done and excelled in. If the current policy and practice is not delivering the expected services, I’m prepared to look and review our policy, see areas of improvement and make the necessary changes.
Furthermore, developing the knowledge and experience of financial management in effective budget control through self training and by keeping records and monitoring both the team performance. As being due diligent, I had to maintain the budget by thoroughly checking and reviewing invoices before authorisation. I ensure my team stays within budget, my recent years department budget was well managed and expenses monitored against set budgets. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide public and private sector organisation through correspondence, face to face, telephone and reports to various departments within organization.
Knowledge
Over the years I have developed good knowledge of current issues in the provision of social care and the best practice within Health and Social Management. This involves developing safe, healthy and sustainable communities by providing services that will improve their life chances and promoting social inclusion.
My practical working experience and knowledge of all aspects of Housing 21 policy and procedures have widened in time. Knowledge such as Health and Safety at work is something which I inform and reinforce upon staff, Dom Care Management, CM 2000 and awareness of CQC legislation.
I've been using this legislation together with the authority policies to deal with day to day Social care managerial issues and to ensure as a team we are working in a safe environment.
I strongly believe that I’ll be able to use all the skills and knowledge from prior employment and Housing 21 to expand further in my career path.
