3M CORPORATION (Formerly Winterthur Wendt USA), Wixom, MI • 2011 - Present

(Acquired by 3M as part of the Abrasive Systems Division, the Wixom Plant is a make-to-order manufacturer of superabrasive grinding wheels).

PRODUCTION MANAGER

Site Manager for an ISO 9001/14001 certified Plant that manufactures vitrified, resin and metal bond diamond grinding wheels used in the cutter tool, aerospace and automotive industries. Principal processes include mixing, pressing, sintering, grinding and machining. With annual sales of $19MM oversight of the 30 person plant including managing five direct reports covering engineering, production, supply chain, quality & procurement.

Select Results:

Initiated and led the site's conversion to Lean manufacturing with 2015 cost savings 275% over budget.

Successfully managed the integration into 3M systems including ERP, Quality, EHS and Procurement.

Delivered 2015 manufacturing service performance of 97.1%

Achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications as Site Lead for 2014 and 2015.

Only one lost time accident in more than four years.

ELMET TECHNOLOGIES INCORPORATED, Lewiston, ME • 2010 - 2011

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, OPERATIONS

Complete oversight for all manufacturing operations at two manufacturing sites: Lewiston, ME and Gordonsville, TN with 2010 annual sales of $54MM. ISO9000 and ISO14001 certified with 150 hourly personnel and five direct reports, the principal processes included molding, sintering, hot and cold mill rolling, swaging, drawing and a wide range of machining operations.

Select Results:

Selected and opened a 58,000 ft2 brown-field manufacturing site in TN in November 2010.

Engineered and managed the purchasing, installation and launch of more than $2MM of machining equipment in 2010 including bed mills, VMC, HMC, a surface grinder and 5 axis water jet.

Improved on-time delivery performance from 78% in 2009 to 82% in 2010 (95% within 7 days).

MANUFACTURING DIRECTOR, PRECISION SUPERABRASIVES – NORTH AMERICA

Managed three ISO 9000 manufacturing facilities: Romulus, MI, Arden, NC and Travelers Rest, SC with annual sales of $38MM. Also had day to day duties as Plant Manager for the Romulus, MI site with eight direct reports that included complete responsibility for all production, engineering, quotation, pricing, customer service, quality, finance, purchasing, HR and IT activities. Annual budget construction and presentation was a core function. Manufacturing processes included CNC machining and milling, powder metal infiltration, nickel plating and lapping operations.

Select Results:

Initiated and led implementation of Lean manufacturing at Romulus. Obtained State of Michigan funding grant for retraining of workforce. In addition to creating product flow, manufacturing lead times were reduced by more than 50% and delivery reliability improved to 94.9% in 2009.

Restructured roll manufacturing between two sites consolidating design engineering, customer service, warranty analysis and product quotation. Consolidation and productivity improvement efforts resulted in annualized cost savings of $1,105K.

Initiated and conducted market study and product value analysis that resulted in product price increases of 15% in P4 2008 with market share increases and above budget sales for 2008.

VISTEON CORPORATION / FORD MOTOR COMPANY, Utica, MI / Chesterfield, MI • 1984-2007

(Automotive components manufacturing organization spun off in 2000 by Ford Motor Company).

AREA MANAGER (2000 to 2007)

Locations: Utica Plant (2,200,000 sq.ft. injection molding, painting, and assembly operations facility, Utica, Michigan) and Chesterfield Trim Plant (385,000 sq.ft. foam seating and console component subassembly facility, Chesterfield Township, Michigan).

Charged with dual site leadership for overall manufacturing and support activity management of 51 salaried and over 400 hourly personnel.

BUSINESS PLANNING MANAGER (1997 to 2000)

Location: Autopal / Ford Motor Company, Czech Republic

Challenged to execute three main areas of responsibility and manage 17 salaried employees of this formerly nationalized lighting component and climate control products manufacturer. Developed and implemented new business growth strategies into Western Europe. Coordinated all new model programs launched. Interfaced with Czech Republic government concerning environmental remediation and adherence to privatization sales agreement.
