Boltex Manufacturing, Houston, Texas May 2009 to present

Die Shop Manager

Boltex is the largest domestic manufacturer of forged weld on pipe flanges. They also produce high volume automotive forgings and also large industrial forgings on one of the world's largest counterblow hammers. As a captive dieshop and machining facility, this department produced all tooling required by the manufacturing departments as well as repair and maintenance parts for the presses and support equipment. Equipment included approximately 24 CNC lathes, mills, EDMs, robotic welder and grinding equipment. I was involved in the programming of the machines using primarily Master CAM and Power Mill as well as being responsible for overall supervision of the department.

Manager, Manufacturing Technologies

GVS Technologies is an ISO 9001certified supplier of CNC machined running gear parts with sales in 2003 of over 2.5 million units. I was involved in product design and production support including fixture design, tooling, and process optimization. I was also involved in implementing the ISO system at GVS. Another major project was the design and sourcing of a line of trailer hubs from Chinese sources which required trips to the suppliers.

Industrial Galvanizers America Tampa, FL /Birmingham, AL May 2000- May 2004

Operations Manager

Initially hired to prepare a proposal for the implementation of an axle manufacturing facility to service the marine boat trailer market in Florida, I was put in charge of the set-up and running of this facility. This included building welding fixtures and jigs, purchasing CNC equipment, installation, tooling, programming and employee training. Primary products were galvanized hubs and square-tube galvanized axles up to 5200# capacity. Hub production reached 800 pieces per shift and axle production averaged 150-200 units per day. I was the primary salesperson for the division and handled all aspects thereof. In January, 2003 the axle division was sold and I was placed in charge of our Brick Lintel division which was relocated to our Birmingham, Alabama plant in June, 2003 in order to be closer to our primary markets for the product. I supervised the move and re-installation of all equipment which included a 12 station roll form machine and various support equipment and was back in production in less than 3 weeks. I implemented several improvements in the machine itself and along with a proactive maintenance program, increased production by 50%. Along with these duties I supervised a two person permanent maintenance crew and outside contractors to sustain operations of the galvanizing plant and 8 bridge cranes.

B & T Rebuilders, Inc., Port Richey, FL May 1999 - May 2000

Machining Department Manager

Set-up and began operation of a machining department to support a large scale remanufacturing line for automotive air conditioning compressors. Duties included tooling and programming of CNC and manual machines. Produced part drawings and established manufacturing tolerances and procedures for the products produced. Trained and supervised all machine operators. Specified and purchased all tooling and shop supplies for the entire operation. Primary operations performed were turning, milling, production honing and sawing. Established ISO 9000, QC and manufacturing tolerances and procedures plant wide.

TCF Manufacturing, Inc., Tampa, FL February 1998 - May 1999

Assistant Plant Manager

Installed, tooled and placed into production a wheel hub manufacturing line. Provided set-up and production support for three robotic welding cells. Responsible for the maintenance, calibration and repair of all robotic and CNC production equipment. Provided continuing technical support, training and integration of automated and computer controlled equipment.

Established a CNC production facility to custom machine wheel hubs for trailer and agricultural customers as well as to provide outside machining services for several local industries and foundries. Provided design, manufacturing and foundry liaison services. Customers included LaBour/Peerless Pump, FMC Corp., Southern Ductile Foundry, Simsco Foundry and Stockham Commercial Foundries as well as foundries located in Central America, Taiwan and China.

Managed all aspects of operation of a facility producing in excess of 500 trailer axle assemblies a day. Began in-house machining of wheel hubs and spindles which were previously purchased items. Ensured OSHA and EPA compliance and managed safety and employee training.
