Objective

To move from a computer operations position to an application programmer or software developer position, or to acquire an operations position with possible advancement to a programming position.

Professional experience

I have spent over 25 years in the data processing field. In that time I have spent equal amounts of time as a programmer and as a computer operator, on mainframes, PC’s and midrange server systems.

As an operator I can readily understand batch systems and there flows, system concepts and why they are there. And because of my developers background I can also provide support with accurate assessments of problems and assist in their resolution.

As a programmer I understand the need for code that is not only fast, accurate and easy to maintain, but also accommodates end users and operators alike. Recently I completed a side project for a customer. Where I wrote a batch schedule analyzer that checks the batch schedule for loop backs, creates a flow chart, and checks for possible file contention with in the schedule.
