To develop antennas which can steer at 360 degrees and point out the direction of the target in the required bands
Beam steering for target detection through manual switching
Automatic beam steering
Target detection using graphical interface
AC-DC Power Convertors:
12-V, 40-A Power Supply
48-V, 2A, 100-Watts Power Supply
Designing of an AC-DC Power Supply with higher efficiency and lower cost.
Studied differences between differences between linear and switched mode power supplies.
Studied different conduction modes and power supply design topologies.
Picked fly-back topology and Continuous conduction mode operation for my design keeping in view my requirements.
Detailed study of transformer design parameters.
Performed the calculations to find out the most suitable core, primary and secondary inductance; the number of primary and secondary turns, wire diameter etc.
Initial testing of the feedback loop including Opto-coupler, voltage reference IC, resistors and PFC IC was on a simple DC-DC converter circuit.
Completed AC-DC schematic/PCB was developed in Protel/Altium which was then fabricated, stuffed and tested.
Research Internee (Sept- Oct, 2013)
Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC), Rawalpindi
Responsibilities:
I worked in the ‘Process Engineering’ department for one week in which I gained all the knowledge about the processing and manufacturing of Ammonia and Urea. The next week was spent in ‘Project Engineering’ department during which I attended various workshops on project handling and project safety. The next four weeks were for the study of Electrical grid of Wind Power Plant which is the first wind turbine plant established in Pakistan. I also gained knowledge on the feasibility study of the wind power plant project and its grid station plan.
3
Trainee Internee in Mechatronics Department (June-August, 2011) National University of Science & Technology (NUST) College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (CEME); Rawalpindi Responsibilities:
I worked on the working of conveyor belts with the help of Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Control
(PLCs) using RX LINX and RX LOGIX software. I also learned to program these PLCs by Ladder Logic Programming and was able to grasp the working of Supervisory Control and Acquisition
(SCADA) using KEPWARE Software.
Research and Academic Projects:
Designing of Broad-Band ESPAR Antennas on HFSS (Dec, 2013-August, 2014) NRTC, Islamabad
Designed antennas that could steer at 360 degrees and point out the direction of the target in the following bands:
2.5GHz-3.0GHz
4G uplink/downlink
3G uplink/downlink
GSM 1800 (1.74GHz-1.94GHz)
GSM 900 (0.89GHz-0.96GHz)
AC-DC Power Converters (Aug, 2014- Feb,2015)
NRTC, Islamabad
Designing of:
12V, 40-A Power Supply
48V, 100 Watts Power Supply
Final Year Project (FYP) on Target Tracking through Beam Steering Antenna (April-Aug, 2012)
EME NUST, Rawalpindi
Smart antenna system design for dynamic tracking of active targets, 3D beam forming and steering.
4
Semester Projects (2008-2012)
EME NUST, Rawalpindi
Following is the list of my semester projects that I carried out throughout my 4 years of engineering:
Processing of Audio signals in MATLAB (i.e. Modulation/Demodulation)
Design and implementation of a Line following robot, using PID controller (Control Systems)
Code of AVL TREES built using Data Structures
Mini Calculator and number comparator circuits designed in PROTEUS and implemented on PCB (Copper board).
Key Skills and Achievements:
Programming Languages:
C++
Assembly
Verilog
Ladder Logic
Soft-wares Knowledge:
Lassi VMware AutoCAD
Xilinx Pspice Multisim
Modelsim ADS Keil
Orcad SPSS MATLAB
Proteus HFSS Photoshop
MS Office
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
I have demonstrated good public speaking and communication skills as I was part of a number of individual class presentations and led several group presentations as well.
As a trainee engineer, I was required to have a high level of management and writing skills, since I had to send weekly reports to the head-office for updating the senior project engineers about the project progress.
I was able to communicate both face to face and via emails with my teachers and colleagues effectively during my university and work-place respectively. 5
Reliable:
While working as a trainee engineer and as an intern, I was frequently assigned different projects and found it easier to familiarize myself to the task through research and reading the provided material before undertaking the task. This assisted me to be more effective both as a team-leader and team-member.
I have always been able to fill in for an absent colleague or during increased work-loads. Organized Multi- Tasker:
I have always been effective at time management to achieve deadlines despite the short duration provided for the project completion.
During bachelors in engineering, I was always able to manage completing my projects along with my preparation for exams by prioritizing my work and efficiently allocating time to all my tasks
As a trainee engineer in NRTC, I was often assigned more than one projects at a time and developed the ability to detect potential issues that could affect the timely completion of projects.
Achievements:
I am an Accredited Registered Engineer (RE) by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC): ELECT/38285
I achieved a Runner up prize in Computer Project Exhibition & Competition (COMPPEC) EME, NUST.
