Objective: To implement my knowledge in FEM, Structure Topology

Optimization, Structural analysis, DOE analysis, design, rapid prototyping

and coding in the automotive, aerospace, machinery and product development

domain

EDUCATION

Rackham Graduate School, The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor, MI

Master of Science in Engineering, Aerospace GPA: 3.925

September 2014- December 2015

Relevant Coursework: Solid & Structural Mechanics, Elastic Stability,

Structural Dynamics, FEM, Discrete Design Optimization, Applied

Mathematics, CFD, Compressible Flow

School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, The University of

Manchester Manchester, U.K.

Bachelor's of Engineering, Aerospace GPA: 3.84

September 2009 - June 2012

WORK EXPERIENCE

Altair Engineering

Troy, Michigan

Student Intern

May

2015 – August 2015

• Provided support to customers and assisted in Training Activities in the

Office

• Assisted in the demonstration of a product named “Evolve” based on Hybrid

Modeling, to GM Engineers at Warren

• General Motors Tim Bracket Project: Executed an optimization project on

an existing bracket design to realize weight reduction using “Inspire”

• Aircraft Modeling and 3D Printing: Conceptualized an aircraft design

using “Evolve” and developed the components using rapid prototyping.

• General Motors Wheel Rim Design: Collaborated with a CAE Engineer to

develop new concept for rim design to optimize for weight

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay

Mumbai, India

Senior Research Fellow August 2013- August 2014

Project: “Thermo-Mechanical failure analysis of the calandria tubes under

severe accident conditions” sponsored by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board

of India

• Proposed a constitutive model based on the assumption of Finite Strain

Theory. The formulation composed of elastic, inelastic creep, plastic and

thermal expansion components

• Implemented the proposed material model in ABAQUS using the User defined

subroutine (UMAT) in FORTRAN

• Verified the Finite Element Implementation by computing the creep

response on a 2D and 3D internally pressurized Zr Pressure Tube model with

varying temperature

• Proposed energy based failure criterion and executed a detailed study on

the elastic-plastic-creep response of a homogeneous isotropic Zr-Tube

subject to internal pressure and thermal loading on a full scaled 3D finite

element model in ABAQUS

Mahindra Aerospace Private Limited

Bangalore, India

Structural Analyst Intern

September 2012 -

March 2013

• GA-8 Project (An 8-seater utility aircraft): Computed shear flow

distribution on the aircraft floor panels with a cutout to attach a

surveillance camera. Executed FEM analysis of the airframe using HyperMesh

for Pre/Post processing and NASTRAN for solving

• GA-10 Project (A 10-seater utility aircraft): Performed strength of

material analysis on skin panels of the horizontal stabilizer and

structural joints (lugs and pin joints) to determine failure limits

• Provided technical support to GippsAero (Mahindra Aerospace's subsidiary

in Australia) by running finite element simulations on NASTRAN

Technical Skills: HyperWorks, Optistruct, Inspire, Evolve Patran®,

Nastran®, ANSYS®, FLUENT®, ABAQUS®, MATLAB®& Simulink, FORTRAN®, C++, JAVA,

SOLIDWORKS®, Python, Microsoft Office

PROJECTS

• Truss Topology Optimization with Discrete Design Variable: Optimizing the

topology of a truss structure based on finite element and branch and bound

algorithm to minimize compliance with discrete cross-sectional area

• Finite Element Code Development with C++: Using the deal.II library to

solve elasticity, heat-transfer problems

• Jet Civil Transport Aircraft Design: Developed an understanding of the

design process by which new jet civil transport aircraft are produced and

the technical, commercial, legal and environmental constraints that affect

design decisions for a 32-seater civil jet aircraft subject to range and

payload as primary constraints

• Internal Mechanisms for Morphing Wings: Developed, manufactured and

tested a prototype capable of changing between two airfoil (NACA 0012 and

NACA 0036) profiles using internal scissor like mechanism

• Preliminary Design Review of a Remote Sensing Satellite System: Executed

a conceptual group design project leading up to a systems requirements

review and a preliminary design review of a remote sensing low-earth orbit

satellite

• Design, Build and Test of Water Rocket: Designed a water-propelled rocket

and a parachute deployment system to support the payload of an egg safe
