Staffing Coordinator/Office Manager 1/2010-Current

Barlow Respiratory Hospital/Nursing Administration Los Angeles, CA

Coordinate staffing on a projected and shift by shift basis under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director and/or Chief Nursing Officer. Responsible for maintaining nursing unit schedules in the computer system. Assign nursing staff to cover vacation and sick time. Coordinate education scheduling for nursing staff. Schedule nursing registry/contract and per diem staff. In charge of making sure nursing staff credentials are up to date. Place nursing staff on administrative leave pending expired credentials. Maintains and enters nursing timekeeping and verifies and approves registry billing. Maintains and audits registry/contract nursing files in the Nursing Office for completeness and accuracy. Registry/Agency contracts administrator. In charge of payroll/timekeeping for 300 employees. Work together with CNO/COO with nursing staff evaluation process as well as termination process for employees not meeting scheduling requirements per hospital scheduling policy and if it’s not being met by the employed staff. In charge of managing/coordinating the Chief Nursing Officer’s calendar. Additional duties as assigned.

Staffing Coordinator/Nursing Administration 11/2004-01/2009

Northridge Hospital Medical Center Northridge, CA

Provide adequate staffing of nursing personnel for all shifts based on pre-established schedules, staffing guidelines and direction from the Department Director or designee

Coordinate the staffing requirements of each unit based on immediate changes due to the need for replacement staff, patient acuity and census under the direction of the Department Director or designee

Demonstrate an understanding of organizational structure and utilize appropriate channels of communication

Maintain documentation of absent/sick calls, cancellations and flexing for nursing service personnel

Maintain master schedules in staffing computer in collaboration with Department Director or designee

Schedule nursing personnel from contracted temporary staffing agencies as needed and based on policy, verify necessary qualifications, licensure and/or certifications as defined by the Patient Care Management Team

In charge of generating monthly and quarterly reports for per diem and traveler personnel usage

Maintain and manage the hospital taxi voucher and bus token program which is provided to patients that have no transportation or are not able transport themselves to and from the hospital.

In charge processing death certificates for patients that have expired at the hospital and who have no relatives and did not have prior mortuary arrangements.

In charge of billing for Nursing Department

In charge of making sure all traveler and per diem supplemental staffing companies for Nursing Department have their worker’s compensation and liability insurance certificates to date

Assist with making crucial house wide staffing decisions along Nursing Directors/House Supervisor.

Assist with covering the house/ act as fill-in for Administrative Nursing Supervisor
