Project Title:

“Study of the effect on estrous cycle in female rats of the plant Micania scandens (aerial part).”

DESCRIPTION: Study the effect on estrous cycle in female rats after administration of pet ether and methanolic fraction extract of Mikania scandens . Mikania scandens was taken as test drugs for the present study. Drugs were administered orally to the animal at a dose as per body weight. A factorial study design was planned . The animals were divided into 3 groups containing 6 animals in each group. A vaginal smear from the experimental animals was observed every morning. The methanolic extract of Micania scandens is help to increases significantly estrus an diestrus phases, when compared with control during experimental period and significantly decrease meta and proestrus phases when compared with control.

Project Title:

” Phytochemical and pharmacological evaluation of calotropis gigantea leaves with special emphasis on anticancer and anti-inflammatory activity”.

DESCRIPTION: Plant derivatives are more useful than synthetic drugs and they are having less toxic effects. In medicinal plants Calotropis gigantean is an established potent medicinal plant. It has been evaluated that Calotropis gigantean having anti- inflammatory effect, antioxidant, diabetic control, healing effects of wounds, analgesic, antifungal, cytotoxic effects. So in present study enrichment of bioactive constituent by fractionation of crude extract by solvent partitioning method is done and the most potent fraction of Calotropis gigantean is evaluated for anticancer activity against EAC (Ehrlich’s Ascites Carcinoma ) cell line and anti inflammatory activity by protein denaturation technique.
