EMPLOYMENT HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS

COMMUNITY SERVICE VOLUNTEER (2015 – present)

I have been engaging with various community organizations to assist with special projects.

USA FUNDS (Indianapolis, IN) provides products and services that assist post-secondary institutions promote student access and success.

SVP Corporate Administration (2002 – 2014)

A significant part of my role was performing and managing: policy administration, compensation plans, performance management, succession management, training, benefits, recruitment, onboarding and orientation, workforce planning and organizational design, wellness, employee relations, employee engagement, HRIS and reporting, and progressive discipline and conflict resolution. I am well-versed in employment law and regulations and apply them consistently and appropriately. Other responsibilities included Facilities and IT. A few of my significant accomplishments included:

- Prior to my arrival, the compensation structure had not been reviewed in years and was thereby difficult to defend to employees and senior management. I spearheaded a project to perform a complete analysis of the corporate compensation practices, the salary matrix, the classification and positioning of jobs within the matrix, and their alignment with market benchmarks. I proposed and received unanimous support from the senior management team to implement significant modifications. The project resulted in substantially increased employee confidence in the compensation framework while remaining cost-effective and competitive.

- In feedback sessions with management and employees, I discovered considerable consternation with the employee performance evaluation process and tools. I worked with a cross-functional team to streamline the process, thereby cutting associated costs (and headaches) by 50%.

- The corporation did not have a formalized employee on-boarding process. I collaborated with management and staff members to develop a new process that was more timely, engaging and meaningful to employees.

- I chaired the corporate Benefits Committee that was responsible for the employee health and life insurance, wellness, and retirement plans. We were able to maintain health insurance costs that were below market comparables for 5 consecutive years, while minimizing employee premium increases.

- To give employees a greater stake in the health insurance program, I initiated a corporate wellness program, which included a significant incentive tied to health insurance premiums. The program saw a 95% employee participation rate in its first year during the open enrollment period.

VP Policy and Compliance (2000 – 2002)

Having gained recognition as a subject matter expert and successful manager at USA Group, I was asked to join USA Funds to oversee and enhance the policy analysis and implementation function, claim review process, compliance/auditing, and loan default operations. Together with my division’s management team, we achieved successes across the board, including nearly double-digit increased revenue year-over-year for 5 consecutive years.

USA GROUP (Indianapolis, IN) provided back office processing, administrative services, and computer systems to student loan insurance companies, financial institutions, and post-secondary institutions.

Director Policy and Compliance (1992 – 2000)

Having been successful in establishing and enhancing business processes at ELSC (see below), I was recruited by USA Group to: implement processes, procedures, and training to ensure that business operations staff and clients were fully-versed and in compliance with applicable requirements; develop appropriate internal and external relationships; and assemble a high-caliber policy and compliance team. I was successful in each of those areas, including leading a national initiative amongst competitors to standardize policies and processes across our respective organizations leading to streamlined operations and simplified compliance efforts for customers.

EDUCATION LOAN SERVICING CENTER (Indianapolis, IN) provided back-office student loan servicing operations for financial institutions.

Compliance Manager (1987 – 1992)

I accepted this position with responsibility for ensuring the operations were continually in compliance with federal requirements and servicing mandates imposed by clients.

Loan Examination Manager (1985 – 1987)

With the relocation of my previous employer, I decided to remain in the Indianapolis area and pursued a position in the post-secondary education and student services arena. In this position, I was responsible for the review of loan collateral documents, placing the loans on the servicing system, and balancing the portfolios.

OTHER EXPERIENCE (1981 – 1985)
