Reports directly VP of Business Development of the company in an executive role. Responsible for all operations along with plant operations, live operations and transportation. HR, QA, Live Ops and all supervision for a 200+ associate poultry plant are within my direct report.
Responsible for all reports for financials, quality concerns and all governmental agencies are within my realm of responsibility. Laid foundation for all policies and procedures for the plant side and all HR policies for the company. 250 associates and 10 managers are under my tutelage.
Plant Complex Manager – George’s Inc. 06/2013 – 09/2014 – Springdale, AR
Responsible for all aspects of the general operation of the 1.3 million per head kill facility. My team was responsible for rising 10 positions in Agri Stats in Yield Value, Plant YMOP and overall plant cost. The plant was 1st in Agri Stats in yield and yield value in the latest July big bird book out of 22 plants.
Stream lined processes and made all areas of the plant in Springdale more Agri Stats aware and taught the management through weekly Agri Stats meetings and performance goals. I instituted a transition meeting for third shift and first shift to share ideas and opportunities within their daily run. Worked closely with live to maintain a standard of .18 DOA% during the hottest months of this summer.
The plant was a two bird operation that runs 4# live weight and a 7# live weight on two Meyen Mystro lines. Dapec cut up machines and one flex line for our big bird operation. Four cone lines for deboning to our further processing plant and all whole legs and leg ’s were packed for either debone or export. Fast food birds were destined to 8 pc cut up customers such as KFC and Popeye’s.
900 hourly associates and 25 management positions were under my tutelage.
Plant Operations Manager – Pilgrims 07/2009 – 06/2013 – Mayfield, KY
Responsible for all maintenance, waste water, refrigeration, budget, production (1st processing, 2nd processing, marination and debone) and Agri-stats numbers for a 2.4 million a week kill plant. Seven Dapec frame cut up machines, one flex line with four high speed evis lines under my tutelage. Debone of four cone lines on two shifts. The plant has moved from a low of thirteenth position (Jan. 12) overall in plant cost in Agri-stats to fifth (July 12) over all in the current Fast Food book. My team and I have increased yields while decreasing over all defects within the past six months. KFC has given the complex a rating of preferred after being on a five year probation for quality issues. I have four shift managers and 1040 hourly associates under my management; the plant has also led the way for the past two months in total profit while performing above industry standards in total plant cost and in quality guidelines. 1,200 associates and 25 managers/supervisors were under my tutelage.
Further Processing Manager – Mountaire Farms 10/2006 – 07/2009 – Lumber Bridge, NC
Responsible for portion control, DSI, IQF, pack-out, MSC and marination for two shifts of production. Responsible for originating all QA/HACCP paperwork and processes for entire area of DSI/IQF and portion control. Helped develop all marination recipes for the complex as well as for the company. Worked with R&D closely to develop new products and processes to improve current work flows.
Plant Manager - Choctaw Maid Farms 5/2002 – 10/2006 - Forest, MS
Start up of this facility from the kill side through the shipping area. Daily management of poultry processing facility including kill, evis, debone, and three shifts of shipping. Daily kill of over 180,000 head with over 250 hourly employees and fifteen management direct reports. Maintained above avg. in weekly yield on both WOG and boneless breast. Six cone lines, one kill line, and two high speed maestro Evis lines.
Director of Distribution/Logistics - Americal Corp. 7/1995 - 5/2002 - Henderson NC
Responsible for all transportation bids as well as implementing new processes for two off site distribution centers and five warehouses, receiving and shipping for two manufacturing plants, and logistics of raw and finished materials. 100 + hourly employees and four salaried managers. Proficient in an integrated WMS, and OMS atmosphere and RF technology. I was the project manager in the research and purchase of the new WMS for the shipping area. In my control was a (20 million dollar +) inventory, cap X and mainline budgeting expenditures, and performance appraisals for four salaried direct reports within this distribution and receiving facilities. One of my many project management objectives was to implement the use of a Zone Picking for the Pick & Pack operation in two distribution centers, also a dedicated pallet location model for five outside warehouses and receiving center. Before my departure my areas had seen a decline in quality error rates from an average of 10% before my arrival to below 2% since these two processes had been implemented. As Chairman of Vendor Charge Back Committee, this committee had reversed more than $425, 000.00 in controllable charge backs with these new processes and more focus on customers’ specifications. Instituted a new weekly team meeting schedule with hourly employees to voice views and help in decisions within their work area. Responsible for documentation, implementation of ISO 9000 program. My area was instrumental in the receiving the vendor of the year award for excellent customer service and on time deliveries given by K Mart and Wal-Mart.
Distribution Center Manager Gold Kist Corp. 12/1988 - 7/1995 - Siler City, NC
Responsible for all operations for the distribution and local sales of fresh IP, tray pack, frozen poultry, beef, pork, and branded items for retail and fast food accounts within the North Carolina and Virginia areas. Responsible for receiving, shipping for a three shift refrigerated warehouse, 40+ employees. Also responsible for capital budgeting, P&L, collection, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory control, and trucking. Fleet of 12 tractors and 18 refrigerated trailers and all DOT regulations and upkeep for said equipment. Brought this distribution center from last out of twelve to second in total net profit within one year.
